With the population aging rapidly, interventions aimed at improving modifiable risk factors for CVD, such as physical inactivity and visceral obesity, could play an important role in reducing its burden, provided they are proven effective.    Sammanfattning : Aims: The overall purpose of this thesis was to increase knowledge about physical performance and activity in the later stage post-stroke by measuring walking performance in different environments coupled to muscle strength, cardiorespiratory fitness evaluation and self-reported physical activity.    Sammanfattning : Background: There are increasing number of health impact assessment studies investigating the health effects by transferring trips made by motorised transport to active commuting; however, air pollution exposure during active commuting and its impact on health has been less thoroughly assessed.
