  1. 6. Protein Kinase Inhibition in Late Cerebral Ischemia after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

    Författare :Saema Ansar; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; protein kinase; cerebral ischemia; subarachnoid hemorrage; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The cerebral ischemia that occur after a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) often results in death or severe disability and is a significant cause of stroke. Our hypothesis is that cerebral ischemia leads to pathophysiological receptor changes on the vascular smooth muscle cells. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Neuroprotection and neurogenesis after experimental stroke

    Författare :Andreas Arvidsson; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stereology; rat; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; BrdU; immunohistochemistry; in situ hybridization; subventricular zone; striatum; dentate gyrus; neuronal replacement; neuronal survival; Focal cerebral ischemia; glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, two potential endogenous mechanisms for neuronal survival and repair have been investigated in a rat model of stroke, middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO): signaling of the GDNF family of neurotrophic factors, and neurogenesis from endogenous progenitor cells. As determined by in situ hybridization for GDNF family ligand and receptor genes, MCAO caused widespread upregulation of both components of the functional GDNF receptor, c-Ret and GFRalpha1, indicating that GDNF may be a survival signal in stroke. 3. 8. Effect of Normal Aging on Emotional Processing and Impact of Emotion on Memory: Psychophysiological and Cognitive Findings

    Författare :Anne-Marie Aupée; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; Pychophysiology; Memory; Emotion; Aging; Gender;

    Sammanfattning : It has long been thought that aging is accompanied by an emotional flattening. Although a different view has started to emerge recently, studies investigating psychophysiological responses in reaction to affective stimuli so far have reported an age-related reduction of the affective response. 4. 9. Effects of ionising and non-ionising radiation in cell systems and a rat model for immuno-therapy

    Författare :Catrin Baureus Koch; Neurokirurgi; []

    Sammanfattning : The most malignant brain tumour, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), has an utterly bad prognosis. In spite of all available therapy, the mean survival time is less than a year. In the unique BRIGTT project (Brain Immuno Gene Tumour Therapy), patients at the Dept of Neurosurgery. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Cerebello-Olivary Feedback System

    Författare :Fredrik Bengtsson; Neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; neurophysiology; Neurology; neuropsychology; Fysiologi; Physiology; Cerebellum; Purkinje cell; Inferior olive; Neurologi; Nucleo-olivary; Climbing fibre.; Deep cerebellar nuclei;

    Sammanfattning : The pathway from the deep cerebellar nuclei to the inferior olive, the nucleo-olivary pathway, is known to be inhibitory. The physiological and temporal properties, as well as the localisation, of the nucleo-olivary pathway were characterised in the decerebrate ferret. LÄS MER
