21. Observations on morphology and function of cutaneous and subcutaneous sensory mechanoreceptors : an experimental study in mammals
Sammanfattning : Tactile sensory discrimination is dependent upon an intact system of peripheral mechanoreceptors, their nerve fibre afferents with cell bodies in the dorsal root ganglion and the dorsal column-medial lemniscal system which relays tactile information from the skin to the cortex. Injury to any part of the afferent pathways leads to compromised mechanoreceptive perception. LÄS MER
22. Expression of stimulatory and inhibitory molecules in interactions between natural killer cells neurons
Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are important effector cells of the innate and the early induced immune defense. In the nervous system they appear early during inflammation and have been ascribed a role in clearance of certain viral infections from the brain. NK cells are regulated by multiple signals transmitted via inhibitory and stimulatory receptors. LÄS MER
23. Neuropeptide expression in mouse disease models
Sammanfattning : The role of neuropeptides and the significance of peptidergic mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases are still relatively unexplored. In the periphery, nerve injury results in dramatic changes in the expression of neuropeptides (and other molecules). LÄS MER
24. Changes in sensory systems during aging : an experimental study in the rat
Sammanfattning : Aging is associated with sensorimotor disturbances, including increased proprioceptive thresholds. The present study aimed to clarify the occurrence of structural and biochemical alterations in sensory systems of behaviorally characterized aged rats. LÄS MER
25. Spinal motoneurones and the bulbospinal serotonininergic system in aged rats with behavioral deficits
Sammanfattning : The expression of neuropeptides, growth-related proteins and neurotrophin receptors were studied in motoneurons of young adult rats and in aged rats with symptoms of neuromuscular incapacities. Also studied were aging-related changes in the descending serotoninergic (5HT) bulbospinal system which constitutes a major afferent pathway to spinal motoneurons. LÄS MER
