  1. 1. Approaches to analyses of cytotoxic cells. And studies of their role in H. pylori infection

    Författare :Josef Azem; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; stomach; duodenum; asymptomatic; duodenal ulcer; gastric adenocarcinoma; NK cells; T cells; B cells; dendritic cells; cytotoxic;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori infection causes chronic gastritis that may progress to peptic ulcers or gastric adenocarcinoma and thereby cause major world-wide health problems. Previous studies have shown that CD4+ T cells and the production of the cytokine IFN- × are important components of the immune response to H. pylori in humans. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dendritic cells in cancer immunotherapy

    Författare :Karin Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :vaccines; dendritic cells; αDC1; PGE2DC; natural killer cells; T cells;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DCs) play a central role in the initiation and regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses and have increasingly been applied as vaccines for cancer patients. Ex vivo generation and antigen loading of monocyte-derived DCs allows a controlled maturation, with the aim of imprinting different DC functions that are essential for their subsequent induction of a T cell-mediated anti-tumor response. 3. 3. Bacterial Regulation of Peripheral Immunity : Mechanistic insights from lactobacilli and Staphylococcus aureus

    Författare :Manuel Mata Forsberg; Eva Sverremark-Ekström; Monika Brunner-Weinzierl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Immune regulation; Cytokines; T cells; gamma-delta T cells; MAIT cells; NK cells; Lactobacillus; Staphylococcus aureus; staphylococcal enterotoxins; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : There is a constant cross-talk between our immune system and the colonizing microbiota. The gut resident bacteria produce a broad range of molecules with regulatory activities in both local and distal tissues. Staphylococcus (S. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Effects of Complement Opsonization of HIV on Dendritic Cells : and Implications for the Immune Response

    Författare :Rada Ellegård; Marie Larsson; Jorma Hinkula; Johan D Söderholm; William Paxton; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HIV; dendritic cells; complement; innate immune response; TLR signaling; T cell activation; NK cells; inflammation; antiviral response; immune evasion;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells are key players during HIV pathogenesis, and shape both the immediate immune response at the site of infection as well as directing the adaptive immune response against the virus. HIV has developed a plethora of immune evasion mechanisms that hijack dendritic cell functions, suppressing their ability to mount an accurate immune response and exploiting them for efficient viral transfer to target T cells. 5. 5. Peripheral immunity in patients with autoimmune endocrine diseases and the influence of physiological adaptions during pregnancy

    Författare :Louise Magnusson; Per-Ola Carlsson; Rosaura Casas; Ola Winqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Hashimoto´s thyroiditis; Graves´ disease; autoimmune Addison´s disease; antigen-presenting cells; B cells; non-classical monocytes; NK cells; memory CD8 T cells; CDCP1; SLAMF1; inflammation; lymphocyte activation; pregnancy; β-cell function; C-peptide; plasma proteome; prolactin; prokineticin-1; glucagon; oral glucose tolerance test; mass cytometry; proximity extension assay; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D), Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT), Graves’ disease (GD), and autoimmune Addison’s disease (AD) appear to share immunogenetic mechanisms. This idea is not novel, as “autoimmune tautology” is an established concept. LÄS MER
