6. RNA-mediated gene expression regulation
Sammanfattning : The regulation of gene expression is a key mechanism that underlies all biological processes, from embryonic development to the onset and progression of various diseases, including cancer. A growing body of evidence places RNA molecules at the center of critical regulatory steps in gene expression. LÄS MER
7. Functional characterization of the biological significance of the ZBED6/ZC3H11A locus in placental mammals
Sammanfattning : The recent advances in molecular and computational biology have made possible the study of complicated transcriptional regulatory networks that control a wide range of biological processes and phenotypic traits. In this thesis, several approaches were combined including next generation sequencing, gene expression profiling, chromatin and RNA immunoprecipitation, bioinformatics and genome editing methods in order to characterize the biological significance of the ZBED6 and ZC3H11A genes. 8. Targeting RNA by the Antisense Approach and a Close Look at RNA Cleavage Reaction
Sammanfattning : This thesis summarizes the results of studies on two aspects of nucleic acids. Chemically modified antisense oligonucleotides (AONs) have been evaluated with regards to their suitability for mRNA targeting in an antisense approach (Paper I – III). LÄS MER
9. Chromatin and transcriptome-based integrative approaches to profile functional long noncoding RNAs - A computational approach
Sammanfattning : One of the major hallmarks of cancer is aberrant or uncontrollable cell division, which occurs due to a defective cell cycle process. During the synthesis phase (S-phase) of the cell cycle, before cell division or mitosis phase, the DNA in the cell makes a new copy to pass on genetic information to the daughter cells. LÄS MER
10. Post-translational modifications in mammary gland development and mammary tumor progression
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. Estrogen receptor α (ERα) signaling and p53 signaling have important roles in breast cancer progression. Therefore, post-translational modifications of ERα and p53 play critical roles in breast cancer. LÄS MER
