  1. 6. Hydrophobic interactions of serpins

    Författare :Sabina Janciauskiene; Enheten för kroniska inflammatoriska och degenerativa sjukdomar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proteiner; enzymology; polymerization.; Proteins; conformational polymorphism; hydrophobic interaction; amyloid fibrils; Alzheimer`s peptide Ab; alpha-1-antichymotrypsin; C-terminal peptide; lithocholic acid; cholesterol; Key words: alpha-1-antitrypsin; bile acids; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : The proteins of the serpin family are primarily but not exclusively proteinase inhibitors, which share a common, similar structure. It is known that this structure undergoes major conformational changes upon cleavage in the serpin reactive site loop, and that these changes include rearrangements within the hydrophobic core of the molecule. 2. 7. Magnesium Chelatase - a Key Enzyme in Chlorophyll Biosynthesis

    Författare :Eva Axelsson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry; AAA-proteins; Chlorophyll biosynthesis; Magnesium chelatase;

    Sammanfattning : The biosynthesis of chlorophylls is an important process in nature. The green pigments play a fundamental role in absorbing and transferring solar energy to the photosynthetic apparatus. LÄS MER

  3. 8. PII proteins as global regulators of bacterial nitrogen metabolism

    Författare :Pedro Filipe Teixeira; Stefan Nordlund; Ray Dixon; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rhodospirillum rubrum; nitrogen metabolism; signal transduction; PII proteins; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen is an essential element to sustain life, being a component of most biological macromolecules. In spite of the abundance of gaseous N2, the availability of nitrogen compounds that can be readily used by most microorganisms is scarce and its production energetically demanding. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Granulocyte Adhesion to Matrix Proteins and the Effect on the Release of Granule Proteins : Development of a Simple Method and its Application in Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Författare :Xiaoyan Xu; Joachim Lundahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Eosinophils; Neutrophils; Adhesion; Release of ECP; Extracellular matrix proteins; Granulocytes; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Granulocyte adhesion and release of their granule proteins are key steps during selective accumulation of a certain cell to an inflammatory site. Eosinophils are specifically recruited to sites of allergic inflammation and parasitic infection, whereas neutrophil influx predominates in bacterial infection and rheumatoid arthritis. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Selective extraction systems for detection and purification of membrane proteins

    Författare :Ulf Sivars; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; partitioning; Aqueous two-phase systems; separation; membrane proteins; detergent; micelle; polymer; Biochemistry; affinity; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Increased understanding of membrane proteins is important for characterization of biochemical processes. Improved membrane protein isolation methods is a key issue for effective functional and structural determination of the large amount of unknown membrane proteins. LÄS MER
