2. Integral representations of Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we study integral representations of Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions, that is to say holomorphic functions defined on a product of several copies of the complex upper half-plane having non-negative imaginary part. The manuscript is divided into three parts, beginning with a general introduction followed by two papers. LÄS MER
3. Applications of Rice's formula in oceanographic and environmental problems
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on five papers (A-E), all treating various applications of Rice's formula. The areas of application are oceanographic and environmental problems. The first three papers treat properties of encountering waves, that is, waves that a ship encounters while sailing on the ocean. LÄS MER
4. Formeln und Routinen : Zum Genuserwerb italienischer, portugiesischer und spanischer Gastarbeiter mit Deutsch als Zweitsprache
Sammanfattning : Based on the interlanguage hypothesis and with reference to skill learning and central concepts of connectionist language-acquisition theory, this study develops an explanatory model, with the help of which untutored acquisition of grammatical gender in German is shown to be a sequence of meta-individual developmental phases. The empirical evidence consists of linguistic data compiled from interviews with Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish foreign workers carried out within the framework of the ZISA- Cross-Sectional Study. 5. Numerical approximations of time domain boundary integral equation for wave propagation
Sammanfattning : Boundary integral equation techniques are useful in thenumerical simulation of scattering problems for wave equations.Their advantage over methods based on partial di.erentialequations comes from the lack of phase errors in the wavepropagation and from the fact that only the boundary of thescattering object needs to be discretized.
