  1. 36. Impact of the gut microflora on the digestive system in the suckling rat

    Författare :Frida Fåk; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; probiotics; prebiotics; antibiotics; lactobacilli; bacteria; intestinal permeability; Small intestine; maturation; weaning; suckling;

    Sammanfattning : The postnatal development of the gastrointestinal (GI) system in mammals is genetically programmed, but is, to an unknown extent, regulated by external factors such as the diet and the gut microflora. These factors can influence the growth of the GI tract, the age-related pattern of appearance of digestive enzymes and the decreased intestinal macromolecular permeability at gut closure, normally timed with weaning in young rodents. 2. 37. Hirschsprung´s Disease & Gastroesophageal Reflux. Aspects on Two Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders in Childhood

    Författare :Anna Gunnarsdottir; Neurogastroenterologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; GERD; Gastroesophageal Reflux; Duhamel pull-through; TERPT; Quality of Life; ENS; CART; Hirschsprung´s Disease; GER; pH-monitoring; Wireless; BRAVO;

    Sammanfattning : Gastrointestinal motility disorders are common in childhood and in this thesis we look at two of them, i.e. Hirschsprung´s Disease (HD) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in five different studies. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Effect of endogenous and exogenous ghrelin on gastrointestinal function in rat and human

    Författare :Ylva Falkén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Several peptides derived from the gastrointestinal tract (GI) have been shown to have profound effects on GI motility, food intake and metabolism. Two such peptides, derived from the same prohormone, are the peptides ghrelin and obestatin, discovered in 1999 and 2005, respectively. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Studies on the effect of orexin on upper gastrointestinal function in rats and man

    Författare :Marcus Ehrström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Orexin A; orexin receptors; SB-334867-A enteric ganglia; enteroendocrine cells; migrating myoelectric complex; nitric oxide; gastric emptying; gastric acid secretion; leptin; insulin;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: To define the morphological localisation of orexin A (OXA) in the gut, and study the effect of endogenous and peripherally administered OXA on fasting small bowel motility, gastric emptying and acid secretion, hormones involved in glucose homeostasis and pharmacokinetic profile of OXA in rats and humans. Methods: The distribution of OXA, orexin receptors 1 and 2 (OX1 R, OX2R), neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and various peptides were studied with immunocytochemistry in rat and human gut. 5. 40. Pancreatic Endocrine Tumors and GIST - Clinical Markers, Epidemiology and Treatment

    Författare :Sara Ekeblad; Britt Skogseid; Peter Stålberg; Barbro Eriksson; Rajesh Thakker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; Pancreatic endocrine tumor; Gastrointestinal stromal tumor; Neuroendocrine; Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1; Prognostic factors; Temozolomide; TNM staging; O6-methylguanine DNA methyltransferase; Growth hormone secretagogue receptor; Ghrelin; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Pancreatic endocrine tumors and gastrointestinal stromal tumors are rare. Evidence regarding prognostic factors, and in the former also treatment, is scarce. We evaluated the survival and prognostic factors in a consecutive series of 324 patients with pancreatic endocrine tumors treated at a single institution. LÄS MER
