1. Disarming bacteria : a structure-based approach to design an anti-virulence drug against Listeria monocytogenes
Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistances are one of the biggest threats to global health and if we don’t change our behavior and way of using antibiotics we will end up in a ‘post-antibiotic era’, in which common infections and minor injuries can once kill again and up to 10 million deaths per year may occur by 2050. Therefore, there is a high need for new anti-bacterial drugs, especially of alternatives to existing antibiotics with already described resistances. LÄS MER

Their distribution patterns are mainly controlled by environmental heterogeneities. So far, little is known about the mode of action of particular environmental drivers on the microbiota, particularly in low productivity habitats. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : In this survey structural studies on some polysaccharides isolated from the families of Enterobachteriaceae (Klebsiella and Salmonella) and Parvobacteriaceae (Yersinia) will be discussed. The occurence of some rare or not earlier reported deoxysugars is demonstrated, namely, 6-deoxy-D-manno-heptose, 3-deoxy-L-glycero-pentulosonic acid and five of the isomers of 3,6-dideoxy-hexoses.
