  1. 21. Immunoreactive proteins in Taenia solium

    Författare :Fernando Salazar-Anton; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Taenia solium cysticercosis is a neglected zoonotic disease that constitutes a serious public health problem in many low-income countries of Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Although diagnostic antigens are available, it is still necessary to identify new targets to improve the current diagnostic methods. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Lipid Vesicle Fusion: Investigation, Generation and Manipulation of Cell-Membrane Mimics

    Författare :Lisa Simonsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion; spreading lipid bilayers; cell mimic; micromanipulation; lipid bilayer; microfluidics; site-specificity; DNA; membrane-receptor interactions; total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy; model system; self-assembly; TIRF microscopy; FRET; exocytosis; vesicles; fluorescence resonance energy transfer; biomembranes; amperometry; membrane fusion;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane fusion is essential for nerve-cell communication, for protein transport between cell organelles and the cell-membrane and for enabling the merger between virus and host membranes during virus infection. In this work, cell-membrane mimics were constructed and evaluated as models for studies of the membrane-fusion process. LÄS MER

  3. 23. The Membrane-Spanning Domain of Complex I Investigated with Fusion Protein Techniques

    Författare :Maria Trane; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NuoN; NuoM; NuoL; covalent bound heme; Bacillus subtilis; Escherichia coli; membrane protein; His-tag; Cytochrome c; NADH:quinone oxidureductase; fusion protein;

    Sammanfattning : NADH:quinone oxidoreductase, or complex I, is a large, complex and poorly understood bioenergetic enzyme in the respiratory chain of living organisms. The enzyme has a conserved core structure, comprising fourteen protein subunits: Seven subunits protrude from the membrane and contain a flavin prosthetic group and eight iron-sulfur clusters that guide electrons from the oxidation of NADH towards the quinone binding site(s). 4. 24. HYDROPHOBIC PEPTIDE TAGS - As tools in bioseparation and investigation of recombinant proteins

    Författare :Sara Fexby; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; E. coli; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; fusion protein; tyrosine; hydrophobicity; Hydrophobic interaction chromatography; aqueous two-phase system;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the possibility of using hydrophobic peptide tags as tools for bioseparation and for the investigation of recombinant proteins. The hydrophobicity of a protein can easily be changed by minor modifications, such as fusions of tyrosine-containing peptides. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Phospholipid membranes in biosensor applications : Stability, activity and kinetics of reconstituted proteins and glycolipids in supported membranes

    Författare :Inga Gustafson; Gertrud Puu; Sven Lindskog; Peter Konradsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Phospholipid films; Liposomes; Membrane proteins; Glycolipids; Ellipsometry; Langmuir Blodgett LB ; Surface plasmon resonance SPR ; Resonant mirror RM ; Atomic force microscopy AFM ; Biosensors; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : In this study the formation of supported membranes onto planar solid supports has been investigated. The stability and activity of reconstituted membrane receptors has been studied. The potential use of such preparations in biosensor applications is discussed.The lipid films were made by the Langmuir Blodgett and by the liposome fusion techniques. LÄS MER
