1. Ecriture et altérité dans trois romans de J. M. G. Le Clézio : Désert, Onitsha et La quarantaine
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to examine the relationship between writing and alterity in three recent novels written by J. M. G. Le Clézio, Désert (1980), Onitsha (1991) and La quarantaine (1995), which deal with the encounter between the so-called primitive cultures and Western society. LÄS MER
2. Computational prediction of novel MAB phases
Sammanfattning : The synthesis procedure of any materials system is often considered a challenging task if performed without any prior knowledge. Theoretical models may thus be used as an external input and guide experimental efforts toward novel exotic materials which are most likely to be synthesizable. LÄS MER
3. On the Few-Body Character of Light Exotic Nuclei - Analytical Studies of Electromagnetic Processes Involving Loosely Bound Systems
Sammanfattning : The few-body character of loosely bound nuclei along the drip lines is studied within an analytical approach. It is argued that the clusterization of these systems leads to a modification of the normal phase space distribution of fragment momenta in breakup reactions. LÄS MER
4. Extreme Value Analysis of Huge Datasets: Tail Estimation Methods in High-Throughput Screening and Bioinformatics
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results in Extreme Value Theory with applications to High-Throughput Screening and Bioinformatics. The methods described here, however, are applicable to statistical analysis of huge datasets in general. The main results are covered in four papers. LÄS MER
5. From exotic superconductivity to QCD and back again searching things in common
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted largely to two new features which Particle Physics and Condensed Matter theory have in common. The first part of the thesis is a discussion of formation of phases precursory to the chiral phase transition in relativistic models with four-fermion interactions, considered as toy models for QCD.
