  1. 1. Resource Allocation under Uncertainty : Applications in Mobile Communications

    Författare :Mathias Johansson; Anders Ahlén; Mikael Sternad; Vikram Krishnamurthy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; resource allocation; uncertainty; probability theory as logic; scheduling; multiuser diversity; Jaynes; maximum entropy; Bayesian probability theory; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with scheduling the use of resources, or allocating resources, so as to meet future demands for the entities produced by the resources. We consider applications in mobile communications such as scheduling users' transmissions so that the amount of transmitted information is maximized, and scenarios in the manufacturing industry where the task is to distribute work among production units so as to minimize the number of missed orders. 2. 2. Den nödvändiga osäkerheten : Elevers perspektiv på respekt i relationer i skolan

    Författare :Susanne Hansson; Solveig Hägglund; Bo Dahlin; Åsa Söderström; Karin Sporre; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; respect; trust; relationships; student perspective; school; the ethical demand; K.E. Løgstrup; Education; Pedagogik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with students’ views on respect as an element in their relationships with teachers and peers. The purpose of the thesis is to gain further knowledge of relationships in school by applying concepts of the theory of ethical demand in the analysis of students’ descriptions of respect in their relationships with their teachers and peers. 3. 3. The Demand for Health and the Contingent Valuation Method

    Författare :Bengt Liljas; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; econometrics; Economics; Willingness to Pay; Contingent Valuation; Cost-Benefit Analysis; Economic Evaluation; Risk perception; Insurance; Grossman model; Uncertainty; Demand for Health; Health Economics; economic theory; economic systems; economic policy; Nationalekonomi; ekonometri; ekonomisk teori; ekonomiska system; ekonomisk politik;

    Sammanfattning : The theoretical part develops Michael Grossman’s dynamic demand-for-health model by (a) letting the depreciation rate depend upon the level of health, (b) allowing a continuous set of health states, (c) introducing uncertainty (by letting health be a stochastic variable), (d) introducing social and private insurance and (e) releasing the assumption of an isoperimetric budget constraint. Beside the theoretical results, there are also results with important policy implications. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Uncertain demand prediction for guaranteed automated vehicle fleet performance

    Författare :Sten Elling Tingstad Jacobsen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mobility-on-Demand; Travel Demand Uncertainty; Energy Efficiency; Chance Constraint Optimization; Gaussian Process Regression; Stochastic Model Predictive Control; Fleet Opti- mization;

    Sammanfattning : Mobility-on-demand (MoD) services offer a convenient and efficient transportation option, using technology to replace traditional modes. However, the flexibility of MoD services also presents challenges in controlling the system. One of the major issues is supply-demand imbalance, caused by uneven stochastic travel demand. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Modelling Climate Policy – Trade-Off Metrics, Resource Markets, and Uncertainty

    Författare :Daniel Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OPEC; GWP; energy; uncertainty; biomass; climate change; oil; land use; greenhouse gases; Kyoto Protocol;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers related to climate change policy. In paper I andpaper II we discuss the use of Global Warming Potentials (GWPs) that facilitate the tradeoffbetween abatement of the different greenhouse gases (GHGs). LÄS MER
