  1. 11. Involvement of eicosanoid signalling in epithelial cell migration

    Författare :Oliver Broom; Malmö Cellpatologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; histokemi; cytokemi; Medicin människa och djur ; Histology; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; Biomedical sciences; Integrin; Eicosanoid; COX-2; Cell migration; cytochemistry; histochemistry; Histologi; tissue culture; vävnadskultur;

    Sammanfattning : The development of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and colon cancer (CC) has been shown to involve the up-regulation of inflammatory mediators and the machinery producing them such as the eicosanoids. Changes in the expression of extracellular matrix proteins and their related integrin receptors have also been shown to be important in the advancement IBD and CC. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Endocannabinoid metabolism : the impact of inflammatory factors and pharmacological inhibitors

    Författare :Jessica Karlsson; Christopher Fowler; Stig Jacobsson; Jürg Gertsch; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endocannabinoid; anandamide; 2-AG; fatty acid amide hydrolase; cyclooxygenase-2; prostate cancer; catabolism; inflammation; inflammatory factors;

    Sammanfattning : The endocannabinoid (eCB) system is an endogenous signaling system consisting of ligands (referred to as endocannabinoids, eCBs), receptors and metabolic enzymes. The eCB system is involved in homeostatic control of a variety of biological functions such as neuronal signaling, mood, appetite and pathological conditions such as pain, inflammation and tumour progression. 3. 13. An integrative strategy for targeted evaluation of biomarker expression in non-small cell lung cancer

    Författare :Johanna Mattsson; Patrick Micke; Johan Botling; Fredrik Pontén; Åslaug Helland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-small cell lung cancer; prognostic biomarkers; predictive biomarkers; immunohistochemistry; gene expression; COX-2; claudin; ALK; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Despite improvements in therapy, the prognosis for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients remains poor, and cure is only possible in localized tumors after surgical resection. A new generation of targeted cancer drugs has led to the expectation that lung cancer therapy can be significantly improved, but these drugs are today only an option in a small subset of NSCLC patients, and their effect is temporary. 4. 14. Bioassay Development for Identification of Cyclooxygenase-2 Inhibitors of Natural Origin

    Författare :Therese Ringbom; Angelika Vollmar; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacognosy; Farmakognosi; Pharmacognosy; Farmakognosi; Pharmacognosy; farmakognosi;

    Sammanfattning : To examine cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitory effects of natural compounds and structurally related compounds, a radiochemical assay for measuring inhibition of COX-2 and COX-1 catalysed prostaglandin biosynthesis was optimised. That process resulted in the development of a reliable assay for finding COX-2 inhibitors in plants, and for investigating plant constituents pertaining to the inhibition of COX-2 and COX-1. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Involvement of Eicosanoid Signaling in Intestinal Epithelial Cell Survival

    Författare :John Öhd; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General pathology; Tcf Lef; Bcl-2 family; b-catenin; 5-LO; apoptosis; cell survival; colorectal cancer; COX-2; LTD4; CysLT1 R; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : Eicosanoids are known to be involved in many different aspects of eukaryotic physiology and pathology. Notably, over the past 10 years much attention has been given to cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) due to its involvement in colorectal cancer. Less is known about the other major branch of arachidonic acid metabolism, namely the lipoxygenases (LO). LÄS MER
