  1. 1. Intrapatient evolution of HIV-1 in the context of coreceptor usage

    Författare :Mattias Mild; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coreceptor switch; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; biological cloning; R5-X4; coreceptor usage; glycosylation; recombination; HIV; evolution;

    Sammanfattning : The variable region 1 to 3 (V1-V3) of the HIV-1 envelope plays an important role in coreceptor usage. Early in infection HIV- 1 is using CCR5 as coreceptor to enter target cells (R5 viruses) whereas viruses using CXCR4 as coreceptor (X4 viruses) may appear later in infection. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Recombinant CXCR4/CCR5 hybrid receptors as tools for studies of HIV-1 receptor usage

    Författare :Liselotte Antonsson; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; evolution; pathogenesis; cerebrospinal fluid; Medicine human and vertebrates ; TAK-779; RANTES; CXCR4; CCR5; coreceptor; GPCR; HIV-1;

    Sammanfattning : The chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR4 are required, together with CD4, for the entry of HIV-1 into target cells. CCR5 using HIV-1 dominates during transmission and the asymptomatic phase of infection. During progression, virus phenotypes with the ability to use CXCR4 emerge in about 50% of infected individuals. 3. 3. Coreceptor usage and sensitivity to neutralization of HIV-1 and HIV-2

    Författare :Yu Shi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; HIV-2; pathogenesis; neutralization; coreceptor usage; envelop sequence; glycosylation; U87.CD4 cells; GHOST 3 cells; CCR5; CXCR4;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this project was to study neutralization and coreceptor use in HIV-1 and HIV-2. The first step was to develop a simple and standardized assay for detection and quantification of HIV- 1 neutralizing activity in human sera. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on HIV-2 antibody mediated neutralisation, coreceptor usage and in vivo tropism

    Författare :Andreas Mörner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-2; neutralising antibodies; V3; combinatorial library; phage display; Fab fragment; coreceptor; CCR5; CXCR4; HIV encephalitis; macrophages microglia;

    Sammanfattning : Human immunodeficiency virus type 2 (HIV-2) is the second virus that causes AIDS in humans. It has a genetic identity with HIV-1 of 40-60% and similar genetic organisation and biological properties, but the two viruses are distinguished certain features. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Significance of HIV-1 genetic subtypes

    Författare :Annette Alaeus; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; genetic subtypes; molecular epidemiology; disease progression; CD4 cell decline; plasma RNA levels; chemokine coreceptor usage;

    Sammanfattning : The human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) displays high genetic variability. Phylogenetic studies have shown that a majority of HIV-1 sequences cluster into one large group called M (major), whereas a few are clearly distinct, group O (outlier) and group N (non-M-non-O).
