  1. 1. HIV-1 envelope protein gp120. Glycovirology of the V3 loop

    Författare :Britt Losman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AIDS; HIV-1; Carbohydrates; V3-region; V1-region; Coreceptors;

    Sammanfattning : The human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection usually is lethal as a consequence of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). HIV-1 is an enveloped virus and the trimeric envelope glycoprotein complex, gp120/gp41, is responsible for binding of the virus both to the primary cellular receptor CD4 and the coreceptors, CXCR4 and CCR5. 2. 2. Spinal Control of Locomotion : Developmental and Functional Aspects

    Författare :Nadine Rabe; Klas Kullander; Artur Kania; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuronal network; commissural interneuron; developmental interneuron subtypes; V3; mouse genetics; Pitx2; axon guidance; netrin-1; DCC; EphA4; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi; Developmental Neurosciences; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal networks are the central functional units of the nervous system. Knowledge about the identity of participating neurons and the assembly of these during development is crucial for the understanding of CNS function. LÄS MER

  3. 3. HIV-1 evolution, disease progression and molecular epidemiology of HIV-1 single and HIV-1 and HIV-2 dual-infected individuals in Guinea-Bissau

    Författare :Joakim Esbjörnsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIV-1; HIV-2; Guinea-Bissau; subtype; disease progression; evolution; coreceptor tropism; CXCR4; gp120; V1-V3; CD4%; CD8%; soluble immune markers;

    Sammanfattning : The two genetically related human lentiviruses known today, HIV-1 (which is pandemic) and HIV-2 (which mainly is confined to West Africa), are the causative agents of AIDS. Progressive immune dysfunction and AIDS develop in most cases of untreated HIV-1 infection, but only in approximately 25-30% of HIV-2 infected individuals. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genotypic and serotypic characterization of HIV in Ethiopia

    Författare :Kimdar Sherefa Kemal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; V3; serotype; genotype; recombination;

    Sammanfattning : The human immunodeficiency virus type I (HIV-1) is characterized by a high genomic heterogeneity. Different subtypes and inter-subtype recombinants have been identified in the HIV pandemic. The most precise and widely used method for subtype classification is based on molecular biology techniques; nucleotide sequencing of partial genomic fragments. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Functional studies on the interaction of immunoglobulins with HIV-2 envelope

    Författare :Samer Sourial; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV; Glycoprotein; Antibodies lgA IgG; V3; CD4; Neutralization; Immunization;

    Sammanfattning : Infection with HIV-2 has a much more limited geographic distribution than HIV-1, being less readily transmitted and is generally less pathogenic. The role of immunoglobulins in defence against pathogens in different body compartments is known, where IgG is the principal isotype in the blood and extracellular fluid while lgA predominates in the mucosal compartment.
