  1. 1. Intrapatient evolution of HIV-1 in the context of coreceptor usage

    Författare :Mattias Mild; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coreceptor switch; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; biological cloning; R5-X4; coreceptor usage; glycosylation; recombination; HIV; evolution;

    Sammanfattning : The variable region 1 to 3 (V1-V3) of the HIV-1 envelope plays an important role in coreceptor usage. Early in infection HIV- 1 is using CCR5 as coreceptor to enter target cells (R5 viruses) whereas viruses using CXCR4 as coreceptor (X4 viruses) may appear later in infection. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evolution of HIV-1 coreceptor use in relation to pathogenesis

    Författare :Ingrid Karlsson; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; RANTES; higly active antiretroviral therapy; pathogenesis; lymphoid tissue; cehmokine receptor; biological phenotype; coreceptor; HIV-1; evolution;

    Sammanfattning : HIV-1 uses the coreceptors CCR5 and/or CXCR4 in addition to CD4 to enter the host cell. CCR5-using HIV-1 (R5 phenotype) appears to transmit infection and usually dominates the early stages of disease. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biological determinants of HIV infection : studies of viral evolution during disease progression in children and adults

    Författare :Åsa Björndal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1 HIV-2 biological phenotype genetic subtype chemokine receptors disease progression monocyte-derived macrophages;

    Sammanfattning : Coreceptor usage of primary HIV-1 isolates was analysed in relation to their biological phenotype and the severity of HIV-1 infection in the patient. The indicator cell lines, U87 glioma cells engineered to express CD4 and one of the chemokine receptors CCR1, CCR2b, CCR3, CCR5 or CXCR4, were infected with a panel of well-characterized primary HIV-1 isolates. 4. 4. HIV-1 variability in relation to host defence mechanisms and disease outcome

    Författare :Marianne Jansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; peptides; seroreactivity; genetic variability; pediatric; disease outcome; biological phenotypes; B-chemokines; coreceptors; V3; V2.;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic variability is a major characteristic of HIV-1. Virus variants evolve rapidly, not only globally, but also within single individuals as a result of an error-prone reverse transcriptase, a rapid virus population turnover and selective pressure from the host. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A molecular network mediating adventitious root initiation in Arabidopsis thaliana

    Författare :Abdellah Lakehal; Catherine Bellini; Malcolm Bennett; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Adventitious rooting; auxin; jasmonate; cytokinin; phytohormone perception and signalling; vegetative propagation;

    Sammanfattning : To adapt to the ever-changing rhizosphere conditions, land plants evolved a sophisticated root system. The genetic determinants of the root system establishment have been the targets of natural selection, resulting in a very complex but robust molecular networks and circuits. LÄS MER
