  1. 11. MOLECULAR PROFILING OF UROTHELIAL CARCINOMA

    Författare :David Lindgren; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytogenetik; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; TP53; FGFR3; gene expression profiling; microarray; bladder cancer; urothelial carcinoma; Genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to molecularly characterize urothelial carcinoma (UC) at the transcriptional level using gene expression microarrays to improve the classification and pathogenetic understanding of this disease. In the first two studies (Articles I and II), gene expression profiling was used to study dysregulated transcriptional networks in a large cohort of UCs. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Cytogenetic studies of primary and metastatic breast cancer

    Författare :Adewale Adeyinka; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; histokemi; cytokemi; Histologi; tissue culture; cytochemistry; histochemistry; Histology; metastases; prognosis; male breast cancer; breast cancer; trisomy 12; Cytogenetics; chromosomes; vävnadskultur; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : A series of primary and metastatic breast carcinomas obtained from female and male patients were cytogenetically analysed. Trisomy 12 was identified as a recurrent and sometimes early event in breast carcinogenesis. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Development of adenoviral vectors for monitoring telomerase activity in living cells

    Författare :Anna Edqvist; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cytogenetics; Genetics; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; GBM; HSC; adenovirus; hTERT; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Telomerase activity is a potential molecular marker for cancer and primitive cells in regenerative tissues. The most commonly used method to measure telomerase activity in cells is the telomerase reverse amplification protocol (TRAP) assay, where the protein extracts derived from homogenized cells are analysed. 4. 14. Cytogenetic studies of normal kidney tissue and renal cell carcinoma

    Författare :Peter Elfving; Malmö (Abrahamsson) Urologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; Klinisk genetik; Clinical genetics; nonneoplastic kidney tissue; renal cell carcinoma; trisomy 7; Cytogenetics; FISH; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis normal kidney tissue and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) were studied by cytogenetic and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) methods to investigate chromosomal aberrations. In the first study, 4 samples of nonneoplastic kidney tissue were cultured for cytogenetic analysis and trisomy 7 was found in all cases in 3-15% of the cells. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Molecular studies of pancreatic cancer: Characterization of the transforming growth factor beta signaling pathway

    Författare :Tord Jonson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SMAD4; PCR; FISH; cytogenetics; chromosome; pancreatic cancer; TGFB signaling; cytogenetik; Genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, genetic abnormalities in pancreatic cancer were studied, with special emphasis on alterations of components involved in the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) signaling pathway. In the first study, fluorescence in situ hybridization and cytogenetic analyses revealed aberrations of chromosome 18 in all 13 pancreatic carcinoma cell lines studied, in particular frequent breaks close to the centromere of chromosome arm 18q.
