  1. 1. Prognostic factors in prostate cancer with special reference to the effect of hormonal therapy

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Urology, Malmö University Hospital, 205 02 Malmö, Sweden

    Författare :Göran Ahlgren; [1999]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urology; neuroendocrine differentiation; tumour cell proliferation; DNA-ploidy; prostate cancer; prognostic factors; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : We have used image cell analysis to analyse nuclear DNA content on fine needle aspiration biopsies from 96 patients diagnosed to have prostate cancer 1980-81. By stratifying diploid and tetraploid tumours according to a cytometric proliferation index (PI), we suggest a new DNA-classification that is prognostic of death from prostate cancer in multivariate analysis including conventional prognostic factors. 2. 2. Diagnostic and prognostic value of proteinuria in chronic renal diseases

    Detta är en avhandling från Omran Bakoush, Griffelvägen 46, 245 64, Hjärup

    Författare :Omran Bakoush; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urology; Hypertension.; Glomerulonephritis; IgM; Albuminuria; Diabetic Nephropathy; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : To the extent that increased urinary protein excretion is an indicator of alterations of the glomerular capillary wall (GCW) and appearance of tubulointerstitial damage, proteinuria can be a good marker of the overall severity of the glomerular and tubulointerstitial damage, and therefore, the prognosis of glomerular diseases. Studies I, II, and III show that it is the type of proteinuria, rather than the degree of albuminuria, that predicts the progression in renal, proteinuric diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of Denervation and Infravesical Obstruction in the Rat Urinary Bladder

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Urology, Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Tord Berggren; [1997]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Infravesical obstruction; Lactate dehydrogenase; Atropine; Hypertrophy; Vasopressin; Ultrastructure; Parasympathetic nerves; Smooth muscle; Pelvic Ganglion; Rat Urinary Bladder; Ganglionectomy; Cystometry; Denervation.truction; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Median micturition volume decreased early after partial outlet obstruction, 24 hrs total obstruction and hemidenervation. Degeneration release of transmitter may explain this, assuming that bladder wall distension causes nerve degeneration. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Metabolism of free and complexed prostate - specific antigen and their utility for diagnosis and prognosis of prostate cancer

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Urology, Malmö University Hospital, 205 02 Malmö, Sweden

    Författare :Thomas Björk; [1998]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; benign prostatic hyperplasia; alpha-1-antichymotrypsin; PSA; prostate cancer; prostate-specific antigen; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a glycoprotein produced by the prostate gland. It occurs in several molecular forms in the blood and assays have been developed to measure free PSA and PSA in complex with alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (PSA-ACT). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Familial and Hereditary Prostate Cancer

    Detta är en avhandling från Dept of Surgery, Helsingborgs Lasarett, SE-251 87 Helsingborg, Sweden

    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nephrology; Urology; screening; risk perception; hereditary; androgen receptor; genetics; Prostate cancer; epidemiology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on research concerning epidemiological, clinical, and psychological aspects of familial and hereditary prostate cancer. Epidemiology: Male first-degree relatives of prostate cancer patients had a three-fold increased prostate cancer risk. LÄS MER
