21. Interaction of Triglyceride-rich Lipoproteins with Platelets and Vitamin K-dependent Coagulation Factors
Sammanfattning : 1. During incubation of platelets with 3H-arachidonic acid (20:4, n-6) and 14C-cholesterol doubly labelled and colloidal gold labelled chylomicrons (CMs) and chylomicron remnants (CMRs) CMs were taken up more efficiently than CMRs. Addition of unlabelled CMs, VLDLs, LDLs and HDLs decreased the uptake of labelled CMs. LÄS MER
22. Coagulation disturbances in the critically ill patient with special reference to prediction of outcome
Sammanfattning : Critically ill patients in intensive care units (ICU) often have coagulation disturbances. Clinical manifestations such as thromboembolism and/or bleeding may result from activation and consumption of coagulation factors and inhibitors. Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a severe condition with an often-poor prognosis. LÄS MER
23. Tissue engineering in blood vessels
Sammanfattning : Severely occluded coronary- and peripheral arteries, caused by atherosclerotic plaques, are treated with bypass surgery. Autologous veins are the most commonly used replacement graft. Among the patients that need a vascular bypass, 5-10% lack appropriate replacement veins due to previous surgery of bad quality of the vessels. LÄS MER
24. Blood saving in orthopaedic surgery
Sammanfattning : A substantial blood loss frequently accompanies total hip and knee replacement surgery. This is a potential health risk and associated with increased need for allogenic blood transfusions. LÄS MER
25. Systemic inflammatory activation during cardiac Surgery. Influence of cardiopulmonary bypass management and patient factors
Sammanfattning : Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass is accompanied by a prominent systemic inflammatory and hemostatic activation, which may contribute to postoperative complications. Aims: To investigate if selection of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) system and management of cardiotomy suction (CTS) and mediastinal shed blood (MSB) affect systemic inflammatory response. LÄS MER
