26. Development of allergy, salivary IgA antibodies and gut microbiota in a Swedish birth cohort
Sammanfattning : The increasing prevalence of allergic diseases in affluent societies has been associated with changes in microbial exposure early in life and a less diverse gut flora. The objective of this thesis was to assess the development of allergic sensitisation and symptoms during the first four years of life in a non-selected birth cohort in relation to environmental factors, family history, gut microbiota and salivary IgA antibodies. 27. Maternal and neonatal metabolomes and their associations to immune maturation and allergy in early life
Sammanfattning : Allergy, one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide, is caused by a dysregulated immune system reacting to normally harmless proteins. However, regulating mechanisms are not well understood. The aim of this thesis was to investigate if plasma and placenta metabolites associate prospectively to allergy development and immune maturation. LÄS MER
28. Indoor Environmental Factors and its Associations with Asthma and Allergy Among Swedish Pre-School Children
Sammanfattning : It has been shown in a large number of scientific studies that living or working in a building with mould and moisture damage increases the risk for asthmatic and allergic symptoms. However, there is a need to establish more valid methods to obtain a more nuanced picture of the wide range of different types of moisture related problems. LÄS MER
29. Early-life gut microbiota and breast milk oligosaccharides in relation to childhood immune maturation and allergy
Sammanfattning : Atopic allergy is the most common chronic disease among children in the developed world. This high prevalence could be associated with low microbial exposure. The early gut microbiota appears to be important for immune maturation. LÄS MER
