  1. 6. Norovirus Tracing in Environmental and Outbreak Settings - Experiences of waterborne, foodborne and nosocomial transmission

    Författare :Nancy P Nenonen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Norovirus; tracing; environment; foodborne; outbreak; waterborne; nosocomial; mussels; GI.1; oysters; GII.4; dust; surfaces; air; molecular epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Noroviruses (NoV), a major cause of acute gastroenteritis in hospital settings, also occur as sporadic infections or periodic non-seasonal community outbreaks. Human NoV replicates to high concentration in the intestinal tract, is readily transmitted by the faecal-oral route, hand-to-hand contact, contaminated food and water, and by aerosols. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Baltic Sea sediments : Source and sink for metal contamination

    Författare :Sina Shahabi-Ghahfarokhi; João Marcelo Ketzer; Alessandro Amorosi; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Baltic Sea; sediments; acid sulfate soil; metal; remediation; reoxygenation; X-ray absorption spectroscopy; Environmental Chemistry; Miljökemi; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : The Baltic Sea sediments record spatial and temporal information about metalsand metalloids (hereafter referred to as metals), which could help to understandthe past and present contamination sinks in different basins. In addition, giventhe expanding anoxic zones in the Baltic Sea, the response of metals to artificialreoxygenation is poorly understood. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Computational fluid dynamics application in indoor air quality and health

    Författare :Parastoo Sadeghian; Sasan Sadrizadeh; Sture Holmberg; Ann Tammelin; Olof Sköldenberg; Catherine Noakes; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ventilation systems; Indoor air quality IAQ ; Bacteria-carrying particles BCP ; Infectious respiratory disease; Operating room OR ; Thermal comfort; Computational fluid dynamics CFD ; ventilationssystem; bakteriebärande partiklar; infektionssjukdomar i luftvägarna; operationsrum; termisk komfort; numerisk strömningsmekanik; Strömnings- och klimatteori; Fluid and Climate Theory;

    Sammanfattning : Indoor air quality directly affects the comfort, performance, and well-being of occupants. Indoor pollution can cause immediate or long-term health effects and has been responsible for 4.1% of global deaths in recent decades. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Indoor air quality and chemical emissions of organic compounds in newly built low-energy preschools

    Författare :Josefin Persson; Thanh Wang; Jessika Hagberg; Pim Leonards; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Indoor air quality; volatile organic compounds; brominated flame retardants; organophosphate flame retardants; low-energy preschools; environmental certification; indoor dust; surface wipes;

    Sammanfattning : In 2010, the European Union (EU) introduced the “Energy performance of Buildings” directive, which stipulates that all new buildings must reduce their energy consumption by constructing low-energy buildings. This could be achieved by constructing airtight and energy efficient envelopes with functional building materials such as age-resistant plastic films, insulation and different sealing products. 5. 10. Postoperative mediastinitis : risk factors, wound contamination, diagnostic possibilities

    Författare :Catarina Yael Bitkover; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :postoperative mediastinitis; risk factors; coaglase-negative staphylococci; pulsed field gel electrophoresis; computed tomography; granulocyte scintigraphy; inflammation; postoperative infection; procalcitonin; sternotomy; heart surgery;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of these studies has been to investigate different aspects of postoperative mediastinitis. Radiological investigations and biochemical markers of infection and inflammation were examined, risk factors analyzed and spread of bacteria during operation studied. LÄS MER
