  1. 1. Anthropogenic influence on climate through changes in aerosol emissions from air pollution and land use change

    Författare :Juan Camilo Acosta Navarro; Ilona Riipinen; Annica M.L. Ekman; Hans-Christen Hansson; Risto Makkonen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; Air quality; Land use; General circulation; Atmosphere-Ocean interactions; Aerosol climate effects; Earth system modelling; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Particulate matter suspended in air (i.e. aerosol particles) exerts a substantial influence on the climate of our planet and is responsible for causing severe public health problems in many regions across the globe. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bacterioplankton in the light of seasonality and environmental drivers

    Författare :Carina Bunse; Jarone Pinhassi; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine bacteria; marine microbiology; seasonal succession; ocean acidification; proteorhodopsin; photoheterotrophy; microbial time series; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterioplankton are keystone organisms in marine ecosystems. They are important for element cycles, by transforming dissolved organic carbon and other nutrients. Bacterioplankton community composition and productivity rates change in surface waters over spatial and temporal scales. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aerosol-water interaction at sub and super-saturated regimes : From small scale molecular mechanisms to large scale atmospheric models

    Författare :Narges Rastak; Ilona Riipinen; Maria Kanakidou; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The term “atmospheric aerosol” refers to solid or liquid particles suspended in the atmosphere. Atmospheric aerosols influence the Earth’s energy budget directly by scattering and absorbing radiation (known as the direct aerosol effect) and indirectly by acting as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) and ice nucleating particles and thereby modifying cloud properties (known as the indirect aerosol effect). 4. 4. Sustainable Arsenic Mitigation A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access : A Strategy for Scaling-up Safe Water Access

    Författare :Mohammed Hossain; Prosun Bhattacharya; Marinus Eric Donselaar; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bangladesh; drinking water; arsenic mitigation; local tubewell driller; sediment color tool; low-manganese; Intermediate Deep aquifer; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In rural Bangladesh, the drinking water supply is mostly dependent upon manually operated hand pumped tubewells, installed by the local community. The presence of natural arsenic (As) in groundwater and its wide scale occurrence has drastically reduced the safe water access across the country and put tens of millions of people under health risk. 5. 5. Environmental preferences among steel stakeholders

    Författare :Stina Alriksson; Marianne Henningsson; Carl-Erik Grip; Anders Roos; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; conjoint analysis; environmental communication; focus group; light weighting; PLS; preferences; Q-methodology; risk perception; steel; stakeholders; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : Emissions of carbon dioxide, dioxins, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter as well as use of non-renewable resources and energy are some important sustainability challenges for the Swedish steel industry. Much effort has been made, mainly by technical solutions, which to a high degree have decreased the emissions during the last 30 years. LÄS MER
