  1. 1. Norovirus Tracing in Environmental and Outbreak Settings - Experiences of waterborne, foodborne and nosocomial transmission

    Författare :Nancy P Nenonen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Norovirus; tracing; environment; foodborne; outbreak; waterborne; nosocomial; mussels; GI.1; oysters; GII.4; dust; surfaces; air; molecular epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Noroviruses (NoV), a major cause of acute gastroenteritis in hospital settings, also occur as sporadic infections or periodic non-seasonal community outbreaks. Human NoV replicates to high concentration in the intestinal tract, is readily transmitted by the faecal-oral route, hand-to-hand contact, contaminated food and water, and by aerosols. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Epidemiology of viral respiratory infections with focus on in-hospital influenza transmission

    Författare :Martina Sansone; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; influenza; rhinovirus; infection-control; hospital outbreak; nosocomial; phylogeny; polymerase chain reaction; viral transmission; whole-genome sequencing; system dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : Human Rhinoviruses (HRV) and influenza viruses are respiratory pathogens which represent a major global disease burden. Healthcare-associated infections (HCAI) are increasingly recognized as a public health concern, but limited data has been published on the characteristics and epidemiology of HCAI caused by respiratory viruses. 3. 3. Microbiological Surveillance in Primary Health Care : New Aspects of Antimicrobial Resistance and Molecular Epidemiology in an Ageing Population

    Författare :Magnus Olofsson; Carl Johan Östgren; Per-Eric Lindgren; Hans Fredlund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colonization; Nosocomial; Bacteria;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundThe inexorable rise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) interferes with the goals of health care services around the world, given how critical the antibacterials are in making infections treatable and surgical procedures doable. Nursing homes residents have been identified as a reservoir for AMR, possibly due to the combination of being physically and mentally frail, frequently treated with antibacterials, and frequently moved between nursing home and hospital. 5. 5. GB virus C/hepatitis G virus infection: clinical, histological and epidemiological aspects

    Författare :Per Björkman; Enheten för infektionssjukdomar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endoscopy; nosocomial; sexual transmission; parenteral transmission; blood donor; ALT; liver disease; hepatitis; GBV-C HGV; HCV; Infections; Infektioner;

    Sammanfattning : GBV-C/HGV is a blood-borne virus related to the hepatitis C virus. We studied GBV-C/HGV infection in different populations, its transmission, and its association with liver disease. GBV-C/HGV viraemia was detected by PCR in 19/576 blood donors. Donors with normal and elevated ALT levels had similar rates of viraemia (1. LÄS MER
