  1. 21. Effects of Art and Design on Orientation in Healthcare Architecture : A study of wayfinding and wayshowing in a Swedish hospital setting

    Författare :Muna Ibrahim; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; health-care architecture; hospital design; interior design; public art; wayfinding; orientation; affordance; familiarity; wayshowing; heterogeneity; temporality;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the role of interior design elements, especially artwork, in way-searchers’ wayfinding and orientation in hospital environments. The thesis considers the way-searcher’s background and the impact of cultural belonging, occupation, memories, aesthetic preferences, and language, and the influence that such factors might have on the perception of the hospital environment and its guiding elements. 2. 22. Voicing on the borders of language

    Författare :Imogen Stidworthy; Konsthögskolan i Malmö; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Language; Voicing; Listening; Non-verbal communication; Metacinematic; Rub-up; Installation; Video art; Cinema; Image; Non-retinal image; Sound; Mirroring; Mimesis; Post-cinematic affect; Autism; Aphasia; Cross-modal sensing; Synaesthesia; Psychoanalysis; Neurology; Developmental psychology; Infant development; Intensive interaction; Speech therapy; Auditory surveillance; Forensic listening; Psychiatry;

    Sammanfattning : My research engages with the varieties of relationship between verbal and non-verbal forms of language and communication. I approach the issue through three people who live or work with non-verbal people on the autistic spectrum: Phoebe Caldwell, Fernand Deligny and Iris Johansson. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Data mining of geospatial data: combining visual and automatic methods

    Författare :Urška Demšar; Hans Hauska; Peter A. Burrough; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geographic information science; geoinformatics; geovisualisation; spatial data mining; visual data mining; usability evaluation; Other information technology; Övrig informationsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Most of the largest databases currently available have a strong geospatial component and contain potentially useful information which might be of value. The discipline concerned with extracting this information and knowledge is data mining. Knowledge discovery is performed by applying automatic algorithms which recognise patterns in the data. 4. 24. Visual analytics for maritime anomaly detection

    Författare :Maria Riveiro; Göran Falkman; Tom Ziemke; Dag Stranneby; Mikael Jern; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; visual analytics; anomaly detection; maritime traffic monitoring; analytical reasoning; information fusion; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Information technology; Informationsteknik; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Datalogi; Computer and Systems Science; Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The surveillance of large sea areas typically involves  the analysis of huge quantities of heterogeneous data.  In order to support the operator while monitoring maritime traffic, the identification of anomalous behavior or situations that might need further investigation may reduce operators' cognitive load. 5. 25. Visual Robustness: Effects of Variation on Product Appearance and Perceived Quality

    Författare :Karin Nordvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; craftsmanship; robust design; perceived quality; optical quality; visual quality appearance; visual robustness; geometrical variation and non-nominal visualization; industrial design;

    Sammanfattning : For consumer products where the product appearance plays an important role in meeting expectations, the visible effects of manufacturing variation can have a negative influence on the product experience. A prerequisite in mass production is that no manufactured units are exactly identical, as a result of variation. LÄS MER
