Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates resistance strategies and leaving processes of female survivors of male intimate partner violence (IPV), and sheds light on the importance of support from social workers when survivors try to break free from IPV. It also contributes knowledge on how Swedish social workers in social service support units and women’s shelters (run by NGOs or companies) interpret and handle support needs of survivors. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This study illuminates Scandinavian literature’s engagement with the fin de siècle as a momentous temporal threshold, when the widespread feeling of being poised on the brink of a distinctly modern age while at the same time witnessing the demise of the old world produced excitement as well as anxiety, a sense of loss and nostalgia. The dissertation explores how three male authors of the Scandinavian canon – Ola Hansson, August Strindberg and Knut Hamsun – depict the ambivalent experience of being torn between nostalgia and a heady sense of departure. Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on some young girls and their family relations. My aim has been to investigate how some of those girls with foreign background who in media, government documents and project descriptions have come to be categorized as “vulnerable girls in patriarchal families” – what has come to be termed honour-related violence and oppression, HRV – describe their situation themselves. Sammanfattning : Male violence against women in intimate partner relationships is a global public health problem and a serious crime, but remains largely underreported. The overall ain of this thesis was, by means of an interdisciplinary approach and from the perspectives of gender, public health and law, to gain a deeper understanding of the situation of abused women, by studying, on one hand, their leaving processes and, on the other, the consequences of the violence for their health.
