  1. 16. Study of Resistance in Hepatitis C Virus Prior to Treatment with Direct Acting Antivirals

    Författare :Midori Kjellin; Johan Lennerstrand; Nina Weis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatitis C; HCV; DAA; RAS; resistance-associated substitution; baseline resistance; NS5A; NS3; SVR; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Sammanfattning : The rapid advancement of Hepatitis C (HCV) treatment presents a great challenge to clinicians in optimising therapy for their patients. Genotype (GT), efficacy, side-effects, drug combinations and treatment durations must be tailored to individual patients, considering comorbidities, degree of fibrosis, adherence and antiviral resistance. Sammanfattning : Acute myocardial infarction (AMI), caused by ischaemic heart disease (IHD), is a leading cause of death in both men and women in the western society. Hypertension, diabetes, and smoking are examples of well-known risk factors of IHD, but also there are psychosocial factors, such as stress, vital exhaustion (unusual fatigue, irritability, and demoralization) and depression that have been associated with an increased risk in both genders. 3. 18. Glucocorticosteroid therapy and steroid resistance in inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Lars Flood; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ulcerative colitis; Crohn s disease; Steroid resistance; Glucocorticoid receptor; Nuclear Factor kappaB; Activator Protein 1; Adrenocorticotropin stimulation test; Metallothionein; Rofleponide;

    Sammanfattning : Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) are diseases of unknown aetiology often referred to as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Glucocorticosteroids (GCS) have been used since the 1950's to treat acute attacks of these diseases. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Unravelling molecular mechanisms underlying therapy resistance in cutaneous melanoma

    Författare :Alireza Azimi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : For many years the standard treatment of advanced metastatic melanoma with chemotherapeutic agents, including temozolomide (TMZ) and dacarbazine (DTIC), has been unsuccessful. The paradigm shift in melanoma treatment occurred with the identification of mutations in the BRAF gene that leads to a constitutively active BRAF V600E protein. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Modelling the evolution of treatment-induced resistance in Ph+ leukaemias

    Författare :Jonathan Lindström; Ran Friedman; Arne Traulsen; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chronic myeloid leukaemia; Stochastic modelling; Tyrosine kinase inhibitor; Drug resistance; Clonal evolution; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap; Medicinsk kemi; Medical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Targeted therapies are a mainstay of modern cancer treatments. Rather than harming rapidly dividing cells in general, targeted therapies work by directly interfering with oncogenic molecular pathways present in a tumour. Consequently, a targeted therapy typically has less severe side effects. LÄS MER
