  1. 1. Macrophage Activation and AP-1 in Atherosclerosis

    Författare :Maria Stollenwerk; Kardiovaskulär forskning - immunitet och ateroskleros; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Cardiovascular system; carotid plaque; interleukin-1b; caspase-1.; very low-density lipoprotein; fatty acids; activator protein-1; inflammation; Atherosclerosis; nuclear factor-kB; macrophages; tumor necrosis factor;

    Sammanfattning : High levels of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and intermediate density lipoprotein (IDL) have been identified as independent risk factors for coronary heart disease. Hypertriglyceridemia is generally associated with an increased expression of inflammatory makers and inflammation is thought to contribute to atherosclerosis and its complications. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 in Platelets - Studies of Synthesis, Activity, and Glycosylation Patterns

    Författare :Helén Brogren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PAI-1; platelets; plasma; fibrinolysis; synthesis; polymorphism; glycosylation; activity; platelet mRNA;

    Sammanfattning : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) is the main physiological inhibitor of tissue-type plasminogen activator. Thus PAI-1 plays an important role in decreasing the fibrinolytic activity in human blood. PAI-1 is present in high concentrations in platelets and also in low concentrations in plasma, but the source of plasma PAI-1 is not known. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the Regulation of the Serine Protease t-PA and its Inhibitor PAI-1 in the Brain

    Författare :Karin Hultman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gene expression; astrocytes; blood-brain barrier; plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1; polymorphisms; protease nexin-1; tissue-type plasminogen activator; transcriptional regulation;

    Sammanfattning : The serine protease tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) is the main fibrinolytic enzyme in the vascular system, and thus plays a critical role in the dissolution of thrombi. In recent years, researchers have focused on its role within the brain, where t-PA has been shown to participate in a number of physiological and pathophysiological processes, including various aspects of synaptic plasticity and neurodegeneration. 4. 4. A multi-omics approach to reveal critical mechanisms of activator protein 1 (AP-1) in cancer

    Författare :Dandan Song; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Activator protein-1 (AP-1) is a transcriptional factor complex that mainly consists of Fos and Jun family members. Jun proteins can form both homodimers and heterodimers, whereas Fos family members only form heterodimers with the Jun family. Fra-1 is a member of the Fos family proteins and plays a vital role in breast cancer progression. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular mechanisms of the transcriptional co-activator mastermind-like 1

    Författare :Magnus L Hansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Gene regulation is a complex process that requires several types of proteins, including chromatin-modifying enzymes, transcription factors, co-activators and co-repressors. We have investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the action of the co-activator protein MAML1, which was first identified as a transcriptional co-activator for Notch receptors. LÄS MER
