36. Sustainability performance of multi-utility tunnels : Sustainability assessments for furthering knowledge and understanding
Sammanfattning : The multi-utility tunnel has received increased attention as an alternative method for the installation of subsurface infrastructure for the distribution of electricity, water, sewage and district heating. In previous research, the multi-utility tunnel (MUT) has been described as a more sustainable technology compared to the conventionally used technique where the cables and pipes are placed with open-cut excavation (OCE), especially when the entire life cycle is taken into account. 37. On reliability-based design of rock tunnel support
Sammanfattning : Tunneling involves large uncertainties. Since 2009, design of rock tunnels in European countries should be performed in accordance with the Eurocodes. The main principle in the Eurocodes is that it must be shown in all design situations that no relevant limit state is exceeded. LÄS MER
38. Reliability-based design of rock tunnel support
Sammanfattning : Since 2009, design of rock tunnels can be performed in accordance with the Eurocodes, which allows that different design methodologies are applied, such as design by calculation or design using the observational method. To account for uncertainties in design, the Eurocode states that design by calculation should primarily be performed using the partial factor method or reliability-based methods. LÄS MER
39. Disease surveillance systems
Sammanfattning : Recent advances in information and communication technologies have made the development and operation of complex disease surveillance systems technically feasible, and many systems have been proposed to interpret diverse data sources for health-related signals. Implementing these systems for daily use and efficiently interpreting their output, however, remains a technical challenge. LÄS MER
40. Polymer Actuators for Micro Robotic Applications
Sammanfattning : In this thesis a multilayer actuator structure is developed for the I-SWARM project. In order to build an energy efficient and low voltage actuator system for the 3x3x3 mm3 robot, the resonance drive mode in combination with a ten layer multilayer structure build upon the most suitable substrate material was used.
