11. Applications of Optimization Methods in Industrial Maintenance Scheduling and Software Testing
Sammanfattning : As the world is getting more and more competitive, efficiency has become a bigger concern than ever for many businesses. Certain efficiency concerns can naturally be expressed as optimization problems, which is a well studied field in the academia. However, optimization algorithms are not as widely employed in industrial practice as they could. LÄS MER
12. System-on-Chip Test Scheduling and Test Infrastructure Design
Sammanfattning : There are several challenges that have to be considered in order to reduce the cost of System-on-Chip (SoC) testing, such as test application time, chip area overhead due to hardware introduced to enhance the testing, and the price of the test equipment. In this thesis the test application time and the test infrastructure hardware overhead of multiple-core SoCs are considered and two different problems are addressed. LÄS MER
13. Programming and Optimization of Big-Data Applications on Heterogeneous Computing Systems
Sammanfattning : The next-generation sequencing instruments enable biological researchers to generate voluminous amounts of data. In the near future, it is projected that genomics will be the largest source of big-data. A major challenge of big data is the efficient analysis of very large data-sets. LÄS MER
14. Safe Robotic Manipulation to Extract Objects from Piles : From 3D Perception to Object Selection
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the task of autonomous selection of objects to remove (unload) them from a pile in robotic manipulation systems. Applications such as the automation of logistics processes and service robots require an ability to autonomously manipulate objects in the environment. LÄS MER
15. Evaluation of image quality and diagnostic accuracy in breast tomosynthesis. Comparison with digital mammography and estimates of radiation risk
Sammanfattning : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM.
