1. NO, Immunosuppression and Tumor Immmunotherapy
Sammanfattning : This study aims at clarifying the role of NO in the immunosuppression induced by in vivo tumor growth and by tumor immunotherapy, and determining whether the inhibition of NO production can be used as an adjuvant in tumor immunotherapy. We have shown previously that tumor cells, glioma (N32) and colon carcinoma (H1D2), when genetically engineered to express such immune stimulatory cytokines as IFN-g and IL-18, induce strong anti-tumor immune response, in immunized tumor-free rats, whereas only a limited therapeutic effect is achieved in rats in which a tumor has already become established. 2. Immuno Gene Therapy of Rat Brain Tumors with interferon-gamma transfected glioma cells
Sammanfattning : Immunotherapy is a new promising approach in cancer treatment. In the future, it will hopefully offer an alternative to existing brain tumors treatments, which are unable to cure. We have established an experimental, low immunogenic, brain tumor model in the rat. LÄS MER
3. Electropermeabilization in Experimental Tumour Treatment: Dosimetry and Tissue Effects
Sammanfattning : Short, electric high-voltage pulses can be used to transiently increase the permeability of cell membranes without significant loss of cell viability. During this period of time, extracellular and normally non-permeant, molecules are accessed the cytoplasm and the cell nucleus. LÄS MER
4. Experimental brain tumors, dendritic cells and immunotherapy
Sammanfattning : Malignant astrocytomas are the most common primary tumors of the adult central nervous system. Surgical resection of tumor mass in combination with radiotherapy and chemotherapy is only palliative and there is a clear need for new and more effective therapeutic strategies. LÄS MER
5. Stem cell based therapy of malignant brain tumors
Sammanfattning : Malignant brain tumor is a highly invasive and vascularized cancer. Current forms of therapy are not curative and can, at best, prolong survival for patients with this disease. The mean survival is only around 15 months. LÄS MER
