1. Advances in Thermal Insulation : Vacuum Insulation Panels and Thermal Efficiency to Reduce Energy Usage in Buildings
Sammanfattning : We are coming to realize that there is an urgent need to reduce energy usage in buildings and it has to be done in a sustainable way. This thesis focuses on the performance of the building envelope; more precisely thermal performance of walls and super insulation material in the form of vacuum insulation. LÄS MER
2. Emissions from Fires Consequences for Human Safety and the Environment
Sammanfattning : Accidental fires represent a risk for people from the heat and fire effluents produced. It is clear from fire statistics that it is, in fact, the toxic gases that kill and injure many fire victims. Further, there are a number of compounds that are readily produced in fires, which have important sublethal effects on humans. LÄS MER
3. On the Characteristics of Fires in Tunnels
Sammanfattning : Important phenomena related to tunnel fires are presented including both experimental and theoretical work. The main focus is on the large-scale fire tests performed in 2003, in the Runehamar tunnel in Norway. LÄS MER
4. Studies on Building Air Leakage -a transient pressurisation method, measurements and modelling
Sammanfattning : Airtightness of the building envelope is a key factor for good performance of a building. The main part of this thesis deals with the exploration of a transient pressurisation method for air leakage measurements. In the transient method, an enclosure is pressurised to a desired pressure. The air flow into the enclosure is then stopped. LÄS MER
5. Bostaden som arkitektur
Sammanfattning : The architecture of the home can be regarded as the combined result of measurable practical and functional properties and non-measurable aesthetic properties. Since the unparalleled building boom of the 1960s, our image of residential architecture has been dominated by its functional and practical aspects, and the architectural design of the home has been widely neglected.
