26. Characterization of ATP-dependent protein dynamics under native-like conditions
Sammanfattning : Proteins are biological macromolecules capable of accelerating biochemical reactions. To accomplish this, proteins undergo changes in their molecular structure. Advances in structural biology have resulted in ever-increasing numbers of high-resolution protein structures. LÄS MER
27. Theoretical studies of blue copper proteins
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a critical investigation is presented about the role of mechanical strain for the electron-transfer properties of the blue copper proteins. It has been found that the structure of a realistic model complex of the oxidised blue-copper active site, optimised in vacuum with the B3LYP method, has the same trigonal cupric geometry as in the protein. 28. Magnesium Chelatase: Insights into the first Step of Chlorophyll Biosynthesis
Sammanfattning : The enzyme magnesium chelatase inserts magnesium into protoporphyrin IX (Proto) to produce to magnesium protoporphyrin IX, the first unique intermediate of the chlorophyll biosynthetic pathway. Magnesium chelatase is composed of three distinct proteins termed I (molecular weight ~40 kDa), D (~70 kDa) and H (~140 kDa). LÄS MER
29. Dangerous Proteins and Where to Find Them- Structural and functional studies of bacterial and viral proteins interacting with human immune receptors in health and disease
Sammanfattning : Bacteria and viruses are threats to human that evolved strategies to bypass the immune system and can cause massive damage. Understanding these strategies and elucidating pathogen interacting partners within the human immune system will pave the way for discovery of new medicines and increase human well-being. LÄS MER
30. Separation of Proteins with Capillary Electrophoresis in Coated Capillaries with and without Electroosmosis : Studies on Zone Broadening and Analytical Performances
Sammanfattning : Proteins have such structural features that they may interact with different types of surfaces by all possible forces, i.e., electrostatic, hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic. In this thesis two different types of coatings for fused silica capillaries aimed to eliminate such interactions have been studied. LÄS MER
