16. Eosinophil granule proteins : biochemical and functional studies
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
17. Proteins in Vacuo : Molecular dynamics studies of hen egg white lysozyme submitted to unfolding and relaxation conditions
Sammanfattning : Electrically neutral and charged lysozyme molecules were studied with molecular dynamics (MD) techniques. Denaturation and renaturation conditions were simulated for the system in vacuo. Experimental observations of biomolecules in vacuo were related to the conformational space accessible under unfolding-relaxation conditions. LÄS MER
18. Structure and distribution of alpha-1-microglobulin proteins
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes studies of the structure and tissue distribution of alpha-1-microglobulin (a1-m), a member of the lipocalin protein superfamily with immunosuppressive properies. It was shown that a1-m appears in human plasma in five major forms. LÄS MER
19. The Ins and Outs of Membrane Proteins : Topology Studies of Bacterial Membrane Proteins
Sammanfattning : α-helical membrane proteins comprise about a quarter of all proteins in a cell and carry out a wide variety of essential cellular functions. This thesis is focused on topology analyses of bacterial membrane proteins. The topology describes the two-dimensional structural arrangement of a protein relative to the membrane. LÄS MER
20. Endogenous proteins as markers of glomerular function and dysfunction
Sammanfattning : Plasma and urine concentrations of endogenous proteins are frequently used in the diagnosis of kidney diseases and in studies of glomerular filter function. The main issues addressed in these studies were: storage of urine samples for subsequent protein analysis, use of protein concentrations in urine and in plasma in health and as markers of glomerular diseases, and the application of renal plasma-to-urine clearance of endogenous proteins in estimating the size-selectivity properties of the glomerular capillary wall.
