11. Dis-placed Desires : Space and Sexuality in South African Literature
Sammanfattning : This study provides a diachronic view of the interweaving of space and sexuality, their interdependency and mutually constitutive aspects, in seven South African English language novels from the early twentieth century until the first decade of the twenty-first century. A key contention is that it is precisely a co-constitutive depiction of space and sexuality that has arisen in this literature as a response to a socio-political climate which has exercised harsh regulation in these two areas. 14. Authentic Language : Övdalsk, metapragmatic exchange and the margins of Sweden’s linguistic market
Sammanfattning : This compilation thesis engages with practices that in some way place stakes in the social existence of Övdalsk (also älvdalska, Elfdalian, Övdalian), a marginal form of Scandinavian used mainly in Sweden’s Älvdalen municipality. The practices at hand range from early 20th century descriptive dialectology and contemporary lay-linguistics to language advocacy and language political debate. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines the relationship between knowledge, practice and policy within a specific area of social work, namely, social intervention to ameliorate the problem of homelessness. In the thesis, the ambition shown in recent years to lay the ground for an evidence-based practice in social work is discussed as an expression of late modern attempts to deal with the contradictory character of scientific knowledge.
