    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; snoring; children; epiddemiology; adenotonsilloectomy; craniofacial development; Otorhinolaryngology; Otorhinolaryngologi; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To follow a cohort of children from age 4-6-12 with respect to sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and orofacial development. Questionnaires were completed about sleep, snoring, apneas, enuresis, sucking habits, and adenotonsillar surgery and, from age 12, about allergies, asthma, and general health. LÄS MER

  2. 32. The Human Spiral Ganglion

    Författare :Sven Tylstedt; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Otorhinolaryngology; human spiral ganglion; ultrastructural morphology; neural interaction; synaptophysin; connexin; membrane specializations; synapse; gap junction; tight junction; Otorhinolaryngologi; Otorhinolaryngology; Otorhinolaryngologi; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Sammanfattning : Our knowledge of the fine structure of the Human Spiral Ganglion (HSG) is still inadequate and new treatment techniques for deafness using electric stimulation, call for further information and studies on the neuronal elements of the human cochlea. This thesis presents results of analyses of human cochlear tissue and specimens obtained during neurosurgical transpetrosal removal of life-threatening meningeomas. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Acute otitis media (AOM) is a common disease in childhood and is one of the most common causes for outpatient antibiotic treatment. The major aetiological agents of AOM have varied over the decades. Now the three most common pathogens are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Clinical and Experimental Aspects of Phonetogram Analysis

    Författare :Leif Åkerlund; Lunds universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : A phonetogram is a diagram displaying sound pressure levels (SPL) of softest and loudest possible phonation over the entire fundamental frequency range (F0) of a voice. Female singers mean phonetogram had a significantly higher upper contour than female nonsingers. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Prognostic factors in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, with emphasis on 11q13 rearrangements and cyclin D1 overexpression

    Författare :Jan Åkervall; Lund näs- och halssjukdomar Öron-; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; audiologi; Otorinolaryngologi; auditive system and speech; audiology; head and neck; squamous cell carcinoma; genetics; prognosis; CCND1; chromosomes; cyclin D1; chemotherapy; Otorhinolaryngology; gene expression; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Sammanfattning : At present, clinical outcome or response to therapy can not be fully predicted in individual cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). The overall aim of the present studies was to investigate potential prognostic factors, more closely related to the malignant progression of a tumor than the established markers, such as the TNM-classification system.
