    Sammanfattning : Weak-scale supersymmetry is one of the most favoured theories beyond the Standard Model of particle physics that elegantly solves various theoretical and observational problems in both particle physics and cosmology. In this thesis, I describe the theoretical foundations of supersymmetry, issues that it can address and concrete supersymmetric models that are widely used in phenomenological studies. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with reconstruction techniques for ultrasonic array imaging based on a statistical approach. The reconstruction problem is posed as the estimation of an image consisting of scattering strengths. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Statistical Sensor Calibration Algorithms

    Författare :Anas Alhashimi; Thomas Gustafsson; Damiano Varagnolo; Johan Sjöberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The use of sensors is ubiquitous in our IT-based society; smartphones, consumer electronics, wearable devices, healthcare systems, industries, and autonomous cars, to name but a few, rely on quantitative measurements for their operations. Measurements require sensors, but sensor readings are corrupted not only by noise but also, in almost all cases, by deviations resulting from the fact that the characteristics of the sensors typically deviate from their ideal characteristics. 5. 5. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Graphene and Hydrated Biomaterial Nanostructures : Novel Techniques and Analysis

    Författare :Sultan Akhtar; Klaus Leifer; Hilborn Jöns; Stefano Rubino; Marco Cantoni; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Graphene flakes; magnetic beads DNA coils; hydrated biomaterials; transmission electron microscopy; focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy; bright-field dark-field imaging; high resolution imaging; electron diffraction and cryogenic temperatures; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Sammanfattning : Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) on light element materials and soft matters is problematic due to electron irradiation damage and low contrast. In this doctoral thesis techniques were developed to address some of those issues and successfully characterize these materials at high resolution. LÄS MER
