  1. 21. NMR spectroscopy in structural and conformational analysis of bacterial polysaccharides

    Författare :Carolina Fontana; Göran Widmalm; Sven Müller-Loennies; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance; carbohydrates; O-antigen polysaccharide; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Carbohydrates constitute one of the three major classes of biomolecules found in all living cells and, unlike nucleic acids and proteins, their polymeric structures are not based on a template. The structural diversity of these molecules confers them an enormous capacity to encode information in biological systems, acting as efficient mediators in the interaction of the cell with the environment. 2. 22. Measurement accuracy. Applications in X-ray computed tomography (CT) dose reduction and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) volume selection

    Författare :Göran Starck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CT; Radiation exposure; Image quality; Tissue characterisation; MRS volume selection; Signal profile; Phantom; Magnetic susceptibility;

    Sammanfattning : X-ray computed tomography (CT) images of transaxial cross sections of the body can be used to determine tissue volumes. However, the considerable radiation dose associated with high-quality clinical images has greatly limited the use of CT for this application. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Conformational Entropy and Protein Flexibility in Drug Design Studied by NMR Spectroscopy

    Författare :Carl Diehl; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MMP-12; Galectin-3; confomational entropy; order parameters; ITC; Protein dynamics; isothermal titration calorimetry; macrophage elastase; nuclear magnetic resonance; NMR;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are complex molecules, present in all of the vital functions of life. The function of a protein is regulated by interactions between protein and other molecules. Drug design in pharmaceutical science aims to regulate the function of a protein by the design of synthesized molecules that binds to a protein with high affinity. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Neutron Spectrometry Techniques for Fusion Plasmas : Instrumentation and Performance

    Författare :Erik Andersson Sundén; Göran Ericsson; Sean Conroy; Erik Traneus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectrometry; neutron spectroscopy; MPRu; magnetic proton recoil spectrometer; fusion; ITER; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron are emitted from a deuterium plasma with energies around 2.5 MeV. The neutron spectrum is intimately related to the ion velocity distribution of the plasma. As a consequence, the analysis of neutron energy spectra can give information of the plasma rotation, the ion temperature, heating efficiency and fusion power. LÄS MER

  5. 25. NMR studies on interactions between the amyloid β peptide and selected molecules

    Författare :Anna Wahlström; Astrid Gräslund; Göran Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amyloid β peptide; Alzheimer s disease; Aggregation; Oligomer; Amyloid; Interaction; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy; Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy; Thioflavin T; Detergent; Congo red; Affibody; Cyclodextrin dimer; Metal ion; Chemistry; Kemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease is an incurable neurodegenerative disorder linked to the amyloid β (Aβ) peptide, a 38-43 residue peptide. The detailed molecular disease mechanism(s) is (are) unknown, but oligomeric Aβ structures are proposed to be involved. LÄS MER
