  1. 1. Differential Magnetic Biosensor using HTS SQUID Gradiometer

    Författare :Sobhan Sepehri; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high-Tc SQUID; magnetic bioassay; diagnostics; RCA; microfluidics; magnetic nanoparticle; point-of-care; rolling circle amplification; differential ac susceptibility; biosensor;

    Sammanfattning : A fundamental tool for containing an epidemic outbreak and mitigating its effects is early diagnostics. Currently, most of the diagnostic tests are performed by trained staff in centralized labs, which are expensive and time-consuming to establish and operate. Lack of access to such facilities could have devastating effects. LÄS MER

  2. 2. MRI Perfusion Measurements using Magnetic Susceptibility Effects: : Calibration Approaches and Contrast Agent Quantification

    Författare :Emelie Lind; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; contrast agent; cerebral blood flow; cerebral blood volume; mean transit time; perfusion; dynamic susceptibility contrast MRI; magnetic susceptibility;

    Sammanfattning : Exchange of oxygen and nutrients between blood and tissue occurs at the capillary level of the blood system. The blood volume flow rate in the capillaries is often referred to as perfusion, and knowledge about perfusion provides important information about the function and viability of the tissue, for example, in patients with ischaemic stroke, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. 3. 3. Quality assurance for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in radiotherapy

    Författare :Mary Adjeiwaah; Tufve Nyholm; Anders Garpebring; Joakim Jonsson; Sofie Ceberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; magnetic resonance imaging; MRI; radiotherapy; RT; geometric distortions; magnetic susceptibility; B0 maps; quality assurance; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : The use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in the radiotherapy (RT) treatment planning workflow is increasing. MRI offers superior soft-tissue contrast compared to Computed Tomography (CT) and therefore improves the accuracy in target volume definitions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Brownian Relaxation Measurements of Magnetic Nanoparticles: Towards the Development of a Novel Biosensor System

    Författare :Andrea Prieto Astalan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PSA; Magnetic susceptibility; Brownian relaxation; Biosensor; Prostate specific antigen; Magnetic nanoparticles; Frequency domain; Induction coils; Time domain;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic measurements of the Brownian relaxation time of thermally blocked magnetic nanoparticles dispersed in a solution have been performed in order to determine the hydrodynamic size distribution of the particles. By measuring changes in the hydrodynamic size of the particles, the ammount of analytes attached to the surface of particles can be determined. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies of magnetic multi-core nanoparticles for biomedical applications

    Författare :Vincent Schaller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metropolis algorithm; magnetic bioseparation; Monte Carlo method; Brownian dynamics; magnetic immunoassays; Magnetic multi-core nanoparticles; digital microfluidics; electrowetting-on-dielectric EWOD ;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been growing interest in using magnetic multi-core nanoparticles in biomedical applications, and particularly in bioseparation and biosensing. In this thesis, two computer simulation techniques have been implemented to study the magnetic response of these particles, and a microfluidic platform has been fabricated to manipulate bio-functionalized magnetic particles in suspension for immunoassays.
