  1. 1. MaltParser -- An Architecture for Inductive Labeled Dependency Parsing

    Författare :Johan Hall; Joakim Nivre; Welf Löwe; Martin Volk; Växjö universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis presents a software architecture for inductive labeled dependency parsing of unrestricted natural language text, which achieves a strict modularization of parsing algorithm, feature model and learning method such that these parameters can be varied independently. The architecture is based on the theoretical framework of inductive dependency parsing by Nivre \citeyear{nivre06c} and has been realized in MaltParser, a system that supports several parsing algorithms and learning methods, for which complex feature models can be defined in a special description language. 2. 2. Compound Processing for Phrase-Based Statistical Machine Translation

    Författare :Sara Stymne; Lars Ahrenberg; Joakim Nivre; Alexander Fraser; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Machine translation; compounds; factored translation; statistical machine translation; computational linguistics; Computational linguistics; Datorlingvistik; Language technology; Språkteknologi; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I explore how compound processing can be used to improve phrase-based statistical machine translation (PBSMT) between English and German/Swedish. Both German and Swedish generally use closed compounds, which are written as one word without spaces or other indicators of word boundaries. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Steg för steg. Naturvetenskapligt ämnesspråk som räknas : Step by step. A computational analysis of Swedish textbook language

    Författare :Judy Carola Ribeck; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : In this work, I present a linguistic investigation of the language of Swedish textbooks in the natural sciences, i.e., biology, physics and chemistry. The textbooks, which are used in secondary and upper secondary school, are examined with respect to traditional readability measures, e. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Gender and representation : investigations of bias in natural language processing

    Författare :Hannah Devinney; Henrik Björklund; Jenny Björklund; Christian Hardmeier; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NLP; natural language processing; gender bias; social impact of AI; gendered pronouns; neopronouns; gender studies; topic modeling; Computer Science; datalogi; computational linguistics; datorlingvistik; genusvetenskap; gender studies;

    Sammanfattning : Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies are a part of our every day realities. They come in forms we can easily see as ‘language technologies’ (auto-correct, translation services, search results) as well as those that fly under our radar (social media algorithms, 'suggested reading' recommendations on news sites, spam filters).
