  1. 1. Mechanism of Metabolite transfer between Enzymes in Glycolysis and Connected Pathways

    Författare :Wilma Martinez Arias; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Channelling; Free-diffusion; Glycolytic pathway; Dehydrogenases; Enzyme kinetics; Biochemistry; Metabolite transfer mechanism.; Biokemi; Metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : The metabolite produced by one enzyme in a metabolic pathway can be transferred to the next enzyme in the pathway by free diffusion via solution or by channelling in an enzyme-enzyme complex without prior release of the metabolite to solution. While metabolite channelling is known to occur in systems where stable multienzyme complexes form, conflicting views have been expressed as to its existence in pathways involving "soluble" enzymes. 2. 2. Respiration in Actinobacteria : Structure, function and inhibition of the III2IV2 supercomplex

    Författare :Sylwia Król; Peter Brzezinski; Dirk Bald; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioenergetics; structural biology; electron transport chain; respiratory supercomplex; electron transfer; proton transfer; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The final step of aerobic respiration, oxidative phosphorylation, combines the activities of the electron transport chain and of ATP synthase. The electron transport chain is composed of membrane-bound energy transducers, which are organized in supramolecular assemblies known as respiratory supercomplexes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A kinetic study of metabolite transfer in coupled two-enzyme reactions

    Författare :Henrik Pettersson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Free diffusion; Enzyme kinetics; Channelling; Dehydrogenase; Fusion protein; Biochemistry; Proximity effect; metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : There are two fundamentally different ways by which a metabolite can be transferred between enzymes in metabolic pathways. If the two sequential enzymes cannot form a complex with each other, the metabolite must first be released from the producing enzyme to the reaction medium and then be transported to the consuming enzyme, via the reaction medium, by free diffusion. 4. 4. Gut microbiota, its modifications and the gut-brain axis

    Författare :Julia Rode; Robert Jan Brummer; Julia König; Mirjana Rajilic-Stojanovic; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gut microbiota; gut-brain axis; faecal microbiota transfer; probiotics; butyratFunctional magnetic resonance imaging; mental health; collagenous colitis;

    Sammanfattning : The human intestinal microbiota has a major impact on host physiology and might play an important role in several diseases. Therapeutic interventions aimed at modifying the gut microbiota might exert their effects locally as well as systemically, for example via the gut-brain axis, a bidirectional communication system. 5. 5. Drug transport and metabolism in in vitro models of the human intestine : By Shamsi D. Raeissi

    Författare :Shamsi D. Raeissi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis was to study the mechanisms of drug transport and metabolism in two different in vitro models of the human intestine: monolayers of human intestinal epithelial cell lines and intestinal microsomes. The first part of the thesis shows that Caco-2 cell monolayers are a good model for mechanistic studies of drug transport. LÄS MER
