  1. 1. Mechanism of Metabolite transfer between Enzymes in Glycolysis and Connected Pathways

    Författare :Wilma Martinez Arias; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Channelling; Free-diffusion; Glycolytic pathway; Dehydrogenases; Enzyme kinetics; Biochemistry; Metabolite transfer mechanism.; Biokemi; Metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : The metabolite produced by one enzyme in a metabolic pathway can be transferred to the next enzyme in the pathway by free diffusion via solution or by channelling in an enzyme-enzyme complex without prior release of the metabolite to solution. While metabolite channelling is known to occur in systems where stable multienzyme complexes form, conflicting views have been expressed as to its existence in pathways involving "soluble" enzymes. 2. 2. A kinetic study of metabolite transfer in coupled two-enzyme reactions

    Författare :Henrik Pettersson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Free diffusion; Enzyme kinetics; Channelling; Dehydrogenase; Fusion protein; Biochemistry; Proximity effect; metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : There are two fundamentally different ways by which a metabolite can be transferred between enzymes in metabolic pathways. If the two sequential enzymes cannot form a complex with each other, the metabolite must first be released from the producing enzyme to the reaction medium and then be transported to the consuming enzyme, via the reaction medium, by free diffusion. 3. 3. Heterogeneous Materials - Diffusion, Laplace Spectrum, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

    Författare :Matias Nordin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; eigenfunctions; eigenvalues; propagator; diffusion; Laplace operator; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis diffusion in heterogeneous materials is studied using spectral analysisof the Laplace operator. Relations to the effective diffusion constant and therelaxation rate of the time-dependent diffusion coefficient for porous systems arederived from the Laplace operator’s spectrum. LÄS MER

  4. 4. EmrE, a puzzling transporter : Assembly, biogenesis and evolution of a dual-topology membrane protein

    Författare :Pilar Lloris-Garcerá; Gunnar von Heijne; Da-Neng Wang; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Biological membranes are the key to cell existence, as they are able to both isolate and connect their interior with the environment. Membranes are composed of lipids and proteins that create a semi-permeable barrier; because the lipid bilayer stops free diffusion of most molecules and ions, membrane proteins play an important role in connecting the interior of the cell with its environment.
