11. Rhizoctonia solani and sugar beet responses : genomic and molecular analysis
Sammanfattning : The soil-borne basidiomycete Rhizoctonia solani (strain AG2-2) incite root rot disease in sugar beet (Beta vulgaris). The overall objective of this thesis work was to enhance the genomic knowledge on this pathogen and induced responses in the host to promote breeding of better performing cultivars. The AG2-2IIIB R. 12. Diets of European children, with focus on BMI, well-being, and families The IDEFICS/I.Family cohort
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate children’s diet, BMI z-score, and parental feeding practices (PFPs), in relation to mutans streptococci (MS) count, psychosocial well-being and children’s BMI trajectory, as well as exploring the effect of the intervention in the IDEFICS (Identification and prevention of dietary- and lifestyle-induced health effects in children and infants) study on diets of families five years after the intervention. About 16,000 children from eight European countries participated in the IDEFICS study in 2007/2008 (referred to as index children). LÄS MER
13. Surgical ablation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation in different patient populations : A study of clinical outcomes including rhythm, quality of life, atrial function and safety
Sammanfattning : Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) have markedly reduced quality of life (QoL) and catheter ablation has become a useful tool in the rhythm control therapy. However, because of the poor outcome for patients with persistent AF, new surgical ablation strategies for rhythm control are emerging. LÄS MER
14. Erythema Migrans in Primary Health Care
Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis (LB) is the most common vector-borne disease in the northern hemisphere, and southern Sweden is a highly endemic area. In over 70% of the cases, LB is represented by the non-disseminated cutaneous form erythema migrans (EM). LÄS MER
15. Functional studies of T-cells in rheumatoid arthritis
Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory disease with autoimmune features primarily affecting the joints. The etiology of RA is largely unknown but involvement of the immune system in the disease process is evident from the infiltration of leukocytes into the joint, and by the production of proinflammatory cytokines, chemokines and proteases, mainly by macrophages.
