  1. 1. Surgical ablation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation in different patient populations : A study of clinical outcomes including rhythm, quality of life, atrial function and safety

    Författare :Louise Bagge; Carina Blomström-Lundqvist; Mårten Rosenqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; surgical ablation; quality of life; vagal denervation; ganglionated plexi; left atrial function; epicardial; minimally invasive; left atrial ablation; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) have markedly reduced quality of life (QoL) and catheter ablation has become a useful tool in the rhythm control therapy. However, because of the poor outcome for patients with persistent AF, new surgical ablation strategies for rhythm control are emerging. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation : effects on rhythm, symptoms and health-related quality of life

    Författare :Anna Björkenheim; Dritan Poçi; Deirdre Lane; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; catheter ablation; symptoms; quality of life;

    Sammanfattning : Background: AF ablation is an increasingly used treatment in patients with AF to improve patient-reported outcomes (PROs). Atrioventricular junction ablation (AVJA) is a palliative treatment option in therapy refractory AF that improves PROs but renders the patient pacemaker dependent. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery

    Författare :Anders Ahlsson; Anders Englund; Johan Brandt; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; Inflammation; CABG surgery; Survival analysis; Follow-up studies; Ablation; Microwave; Transmurality; Atrial function; Tissue velocity echocardiography; Thoracic surgery; Thoraxkirurgi; Kirurgi; särskilt thoraxkirurgi; Surgery esp. Thoracic and Cardivascular Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. In cardiac surgery, one-third of the patients experience episodes of AF during the first postoperative days (postoperative AF), and patients with preoperative AF (concomitant AF) can be offered ablation procedures in conjunction with surgery, in order to restore ordinary sinus rhythm (SR). 4. 4. Atrial fibrillation : treatment, associated conditions and quantification of symptoms

    Författare :Niklas Höglund; Steen Jensen; Milos Kesek; Karl Franklin; Juhani Koistinen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; cardioversion; atorvastatin; high-sensitivity C-reactive protein; symptoms; sleep apnea; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia. There is a need for new pharmacological treatment strategies since the current antiarrhythmic drugs have a modest efficacy and may have severe side effects. Cardioversion (CV) of AF offers an opportunity to study related conditions in sinus rhythm (SR) and during AF. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Aspects of Intraoperative Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation

    Författare :Birgitta Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :atrial fibrillation; intraoperative ablation; radiofrequency; cryo; epicardial; quality of life; atrial function; predictors of rhythm;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Increasing knowledge about mechanisms that trigger and maintain atrial fibrillation (AF) has influenced the possibilities for treatment and even cure of AF. The surgical Cox Maze III procedure is still the gold standard for the curative treatment of AF. LÄS MER
