  1. 1. Ticks and Tick-borne Encephalitis Virus : From Nature to Infection

    Författare :Naveed Asghar; Magnus Johansson; Patrik Dinnétz; Travis Taylor; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Co-occurrence; Environmental factors; Flavivirus; Ixodes ricinus; Natural foci; Non-coding region; Poly A tract; Quasispecies; Questing ticks; Scandinavia; Tick-borne encephalitis virus; Vegetation.; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier;

    Sammanfattning : Vector-borne diseases are an increasing global threat to humans due to climate changes, elevating the risk of infections transmitted by mosquitos, ticks, and other arthropod vectors. Ixodes ricinus, a common tick in Europe, transmits dangerous tick-borne pathogens to humans. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of Spotted Fever Rickettsia - Distribution, Detection, Diagnosis and Clinical Context : With a Focus on Vectors and Patients in Sweden

    Författare :Katarina Wallménius; Kenneth Nilsson; Thomas Jaenson; Björn Olsen; Fredrik Elgh; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The spotted fever rickettsia, Rickettsia helvetica, is an endemic tick-borne bacteria in Sweden. It causes infections in humans, manifested as aneruptive fever, headache, arthralgia and myalgia, and sometimes an inoculation eschar or a rash. There have also been two known cases of human infections with R. felis in Sweden. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Epidemiological aspects of tick borne diseases with focus on risk and prevention

    Författare :Louise Stjernberg; Pia Forsberg; Allmänmedicin och samhällsmedicin; []

    Sammanfattning : The incidence and variety of diseases associated with ticks have increased world-wide and ticks are currently considered to be second only to mosquitoes as vectors of human infectious diseases in the world. In the northern hemisphere, Ixodes ricinus, the most common tick, transmits diseases caused by several infectious pathogens, including different types of bacteria, virus and protozoa. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Essays in Environmental Management and Economics: Public Health, Risk and Strategic Environmental Assessment

    Författare :Daniel Slunge; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; risk; risk perception; public health; strategic environmental assessment; institutions; governance; willingness to pay; protective behaviour; vector-borne diseases; ticks; TBE; tick-borne encephalitis; Lyme borreliosis; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Current large-scale environmental and climate change leads to the emergence of new and potentially dramatic risks for individuals and societies. The welfare costs associated with these risks largely depend on our ability to take them into account in decision-making and adapt to new circumstances. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Rickettsiae are obligate intracellular gram-negative bacteria transmitted by arthropod vectors. Rickettsiae sometimes cause disease in humans, typically with high fever, headache and occasionally an eschar.In Sweden, Rickettsia helvetica, belonging to the spotted fever group, is the only tick-transmitted rickettsia found free in nature.
