  1. 1. Endothelial-leukocyte interactions

    Författare :Maria Olofsson; Diabetes - öpatofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Histology; endothelial cell; leukocyte; apoptosis; mitochondria; heparin binding protein; vascular permeability; E-selectin; migration; rolling; cytochemistry; histochemistry; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes early inflammatory responses involving interactions between leukocytes and the endothelial lining of the blood vessel wall. An adhesion molecule, E-selectin, which is upregulated on interleukin-1 activated endothelium, was found to mediate rolling between leukocytes and endothelial cells in vivo. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Method development for the analysis of protein interactions

    Författare :Despoina Kermpatsou; Ola Söderberg; Maréne Landström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; in situ; proximity ligation assay PLA ; strand displacement; proximity-dependent initiation of hybridisation chain reaction proxHCR ; protein complexes; rolling circle amplification RCA ; MolBoolean; vitamin D; 1; 25D3-MARRS receptor; PDIA3; ERp57; CYP24A1; c-Myc; prostate cancer; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Biological processes take place through interactions between macromolecules, such as nucleic acids and proteins. It is, therefore, fundamental to understand the functions of proteins and how they form complexes in order to carry out their role. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Diffusive interactions play an important role in protein stability and mobility : Investigations of the intracellular milieu using in-cell NMR

    Författare :Therese Sörensen; Mikael Oliveberg; Per Jemth; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in-cell NMR; protein-protein interactions; mobility; stability; thermodynamics; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance; stopped-flow spectroscopy; proteins; SOD1; HAH1; TTHA1718; cells; cytoplasm; humans; bacteria; ions; polyions; electrostatics; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are crucial for all cellular life. Every signal received by a cell, and every response to it, is mediated by proteins. Inside cells, these proteins diffusively sample each other’s surfaces, as they travel through the cytoplasm in search of their specific interaction partners. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Protein stability and mobility in live cells : Revelation of the intracellular diffusive interaction organization mechanisms

    Författare :Xin Mu; Mikael Oliveberg; Johan Elf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusive interactions; macromolecular crowding; protein thermodynamic stability; protein mobility; in-cell NMR; Hofmeister series; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Biochemical processes inside living cells take place in a confined and highly crowded environment. As such, macromolecular crowding, one of the most important physicochemical properties of cytoplasm, is an essential element of cell physiology. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of NF-κB by Calmodulin

    Författare :Åsa Antonsson; Thomas Grundström; Ylva Engström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; NF-κB; calmodulin; transcription; calcium; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Cells experience numerous external signals which they must respond to. Such signals arriving at the cell surface are transduced via various signal transduction pathways and often ultimately result in regulation of transcription. LÄS MER
