  1. 26. OPENING THE BOX : Exploring the presumptions about the 'Net Generation'

    Författare :Sheila Zimic; Bo Sundgren; Katarina Lindblad-Gidlund; Patrik Hernwall; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Net Generation ; presumptions; deconstruction; digital competence; digital participation; Informatics; computer and systems science; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : There are many names or labels which refer to the generation growing up with digital media and these include labels such as ‘Net Generation’ (Tapscott, 1998), ‘digital natives’ (Prensky, 2001), ‘cyberkids’ (Holloway, 2003) and ‘MySpacegeneration’ (Rosen, 2008). The core idea behind these labels is that young people who have grown up surrounded by digital technology are very different to previous generations in their way of using and even thinking about the new digital technology. 2. 27. The changing role and importance of the built environment for daily travel in Sweden

    Författare :Erik Elldér; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; built environment; travel; distance; daily; commuting; telework; residential location; Sweden; activities; mobility; spatiotemporal constraints;

    Sammanfattning : Geography, in terms of the built environment and location patterns, was traditionally, and still is, emphasized by many scholars, policymakers, and planners as greatly influencing people’s daily travel behaviour. However, taking recent decades of rapidly increasing mobility capabilities (physical as well as virtual) into account, and the related increase in individual choice opportunities, others argue that the importance of geographic factors has gradually dissolved. Sammanfattning : The production and consumption of information and communication technology (ICT) products and services continue to grow worldwide. This trend is accompanied by a corresponding increase in electricity use by ICT, as well as direct environmental impacts of the technology. Yet a more complicated picture of ICT’s effects is emerging. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Secure emergency communications of emergency responders : a case study of Kemi municipality in Finland

    Författare :Heidi Hartikainen; Erik Borglund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; emergency management; information security; emergency response; emergency communications; secure communications; Data- och systemvetenskap; Computer and Systems Science;

    Sammanfattning : Emergency response is highly time-critical and information dependent: every moment counts and organizations need to access various information that supports their decision making and informs them about the scale and location of the emergency, the damages, and the availability of human and physical resources. This kind information can originate from many different places and the situation can be stressful as there is a need to communicate quickly, reliably and accurately within their own organization, but also inter-organizationally.
