  1. 16. Microplastic Mitigation in Urban Stormwater : Assessing Horizontal-Flow Filters of Bark, Biochar and Sand as Remediation Strategies

    Författare :Gabriella Rullander; Sahar S. Dalahmeh; Roger Herbert; Jes Vollertsen; Claudia Lorenz; Ann-Margret Strömvall; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Decentralized water treatment; Filtration; Filter systems; Pollution control; Porous media; Stormwater management; Sustainable solutions; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Urban stormwater has been suggested as a significant vector through which microplastics (MPs) reach aquatic environments. Currently, only a small fraction of stormwater in Sweden undergoes any form of treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Visual influences on vestibular compensation and postural control

    Författare :Anna Hafström; Lund näs- och halssjukdomar Öron-; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Otorhinolaryngology; audiology; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; Medicin människa och djur ; Vestibular schwannoma; Alcohol intoxication.; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Vestibular deafferentation; Visual-vestibular interactions; Subjective visual horizontal and vertical; Visual dependence; Utriculus; Balance; Vision; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to investigate visual-vestibular interactions in healthy subjects and in patients with a well defined unilateral vestibular lesion (vestibular schwannoma before and six months after translabyrinthine surgery). Visual information is particularly important for balance control during perturbed stance. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads: Methods Development and Efficiency Studies

    Författare :Karin Oscarsson; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gravel road; dust; particulate matter; PM10; horizontal dust diffusion; deteriorations; maintenance; dust control; dust suppressants; efficiency; application rate; leaching; residual concentration; seasonal variations; salt solution; solid salt; calcium chloride; magnesium chloride; lignosulphonate; polysaccharide sugar ; bitumen emulsion; rape oil; starch; surfactant; mesa; clay; fine material content.; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Application of the proper dust suppressant to a gravel road ensures road safety and riding comfort as well as creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents in buildings adjacent to the road. It also reduces the need and cost for vehicle repair, road maintenance activities, and aggregate supplementation. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads : Methods Development and Efficiency Studies

    Författare :Karin Edvardsson; Björn Birgisson; Andrew Dawson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Gravel road; dust; particulate matter; PM10; horizontal dust diffusion; deteriorations; maintenance; dust control; dust suppressants; efficiency; application rate; leaching; residual concentration; seasonal variations; salt solution; solid salt; calcium chloride; magnesium chloride; lignosulphonate; polysaccharide sugar ; bitumen emulsion; rape oil; starch; surfactant; mesa; clay; fine material content;

    Sammanfattning : Approximately 75 percent (300 000 km) of the total Swedish road network and 20 percent(20 000 km) of the national road network consists of gravel roads. One of the most significantproblems associated with gravel roads is traffic-generated dust emission, which contributes tothe deterioration of the road surface and acts as a major source of particulate matter releasedinto the atmosphere, thereby involving public economics, road safety, human health, andenvironmental quality. 5. 20. Measurements and Modelling of Convective Vaporization for Refrigerants in a Horizontal Tube

    Författare :Peter Melin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; n-butane; HFC134a; pressure drop; propane; HFC143a; horizontal flow boiling; in-tube vaporization; HFC125; HFC32; experimental study; HCFC142b; HCFC22; non-azeotropic mixtures; CFC12; modelling; mixture effects;

    Sammanfattning : An evaporator facility has been constructed to measure local values of heat transfer and pressure drop. The evaporator resembles a normal working evaporator tube in a direct-expansion evaporator applicable to large heat pump/refrigeration cycles, typically over 500 kW. The evaporator is brine-heated and uses an expansion valve to control the inlet. LÄS MER
