1. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly. 2. Modeling of Vertical Shaft Impact Crushers
Sammanfattning : One of the largest products in most civilized societies is concrete used to build various types of constructions. To create this product, a mixture of cement, chemical binders, and rock aggregates are combined and then poured into molds where it hardens. The sand part of the rock aggregates is either from natural sources or manufactured. LÄS MER
3. Mechanics of Cross-Laminated Timber
Sammanfattning : Increasing awareness of sustainable building materials has led to interest in enhancing the structural performance of engineered wood products. Wood is a sustainable, renewable material, and the increasing use of wood in construction contributes to its sustainability. LÄS MER
4. Multi-scale analyses of cycled industrial-scale packed-bed adsorbers
Sammanfattning : Separations processes account for 10%–15% of the total energy consumed in process industries worldwide. In such separation processes, it is common to use activated carbon in packed-bed adsorbers, to remove undesired substances from a process stream. LÄS MER
5. Mathematical modelling of jointed rock masses
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a theoretical model of the mechanical behaviour of jointed rock masses is developed. An equivalent material approach is used to formulate the constitutive equations, where the structural components, intact rock and joints are assigned continuous material properties. LÄS MER
