26. Separation and Further Characterization of Hematopoietic Cell Populations Based on Phenotypic and Biophysical Properties
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are multipotent and possess self-renewal capacity. Thus, they can sustain a life-long hematopoiesis and are also capable of restoring the hematopoietic system when transplanted to a patient. LÄS MER
27. Characterization of human myeloid progenitors and their differentiation
Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells are derived from the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a continuous and dynamic process, regulated by a network of transcription factors in different combinations and extrinsic signals from growth factors (GFs) and other factors in the microenvironment. In the initial stages of hematopoiesis HSCs differentiate to progenitor cells with gradually more restricted lineage potential and according to the most accepted model the first restriction in developmental potential results in commitment to either the lymphoid or the myeloid branch, in the latter followed by commitment to the neutrophil/monocyte and erythrocyte/megakaryocyte lineages. 28. On the Role of the Tumor Suppressor p53 in Leukemic Cell Differentiation
Sammanfattning : Leukemic cells suffer from an impaired ability to differentiate due to inherited or acquired genetic lesions. These genetic changes can sometimes be bypassed with various compounds both in vitro, and, more rarely, in vivo, thus inducing terminal differentiation of the leukemic cells. LÄS MER
29. Live and Let Die : Critical regulation of survival in normal and malignant hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells
Sammanfattning : The hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) is characterized by its ability to self-renew and produce all mature blood cells throughout the life of an organism. This is tightly regulated to maintain a balance between survival, proliferation, and differentiation. LÄS MER
30. Studies of New Signal Transduction Modulators in Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a life-threatening malignant disorder with dismal prognosis. AML is characterized by frequent genetic changes involving tyrosine kinases, normally acting as important mediators in many basic cellular processes. LÄS MER
