  1. 6. Brain plasticity and hand function

    Författare :Anders Björkman; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatologi; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatology; Surgery; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; hand function; nerve injury; brain plasticity; orthopaedics;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effects of cortical reorganisational changes following experimental deafferentation and peripheral nerve injury and apply the concept of brain plasticity to enhance sensory re-education following peripheral nerve injury and repair in the hand. In the first two papers the effects on hand function of contralateral deafferentation was investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Hand injuries - epidemiology, costs and outcome

    Författare :HansE Rosberg; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Public health; epidemiology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Folkhälsa; epidemiologi; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; outcome; health economy; flexor tendon injury; costs; Hand injury;

    Sammanfattning : Hand injuries have a profound impact not only on the patient’s activity of daily living and during leisure time but also on working capability. Such injuries may therefore also generate substantial costs for society in terms of sick-leave and treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Gastrointestinal Physiology and Results following Bariatric Surgery

    Författare :Jakob Hedberg; Magnus Sundbom; Näslund Erik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bariatric surgery; gastric bypass; biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch; PYY; stomal ulcer; gastric emptying; Surgery; Kirurgi; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : The number of operations for morbid obesity is rising fast. We have examined aspects of postoperative physiology and results after bariatric surgery. The pH in the proximal pouch after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) was investigated with catheter-based and wire-less technique. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Neuroprotection and axonal regeneration after peripheral nerve injury

    Författare :Dag Welin; Lev N. Novikov; Lars B. Dahlin; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Following microsurgical reconstruction of injured peripheral nerves, severed axons are able to undergo spontaneous regeneration. However, the functional result is always unsatisfactory with poor sensory recovery and reduced motor function. LÄS MER

    Författare :Johanna Wangdell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Outcome; tendon transfer; tetraplegia; patient perspective; hand function;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: To investigate patients perceived benefits after upper limb surgery in persons with tetraplegia - with a special focus on the participants’ perspective and their experiences from regaining lost functions. Methods: A combined Quantitative and Qualitative design was used. LÄS MER
